You need Rangers for detecting the thieves. They just need torches and leather armor. Also - as your feedback is negative: - Only Rangers and Fearnaughts can fight the ghosts, everybody else drops their stuff and runs. You have your guards trying to claim the area with the ghosts, you are burning stuff left and right. - Only Rangers can identify thieves while they are out stealing. Everybody else can only fight the camps. A couple of Rangers with guards go a long way to not getting robbed all the time. - Crops and vegetables grow better on different terrain, there is a tooltip that explains this in the Early Access Version. I am not sure if yours has these, I wasn't able to find a spot in the videos where you show building farms. But I might have missed it. - Trader-carriers need backpacks as far as I know. Maybe you lost all your carriers to ghosts? See above. I couldn't verify that. These are just the worst offenders I noticed. I am really looking forward to this game and I am pretty sad that you don't like it, you are my favourite streamer for this kind of games. Maybe you could try a second run later. There is an upgrade for the EA scheduled in I think February.

I remember when dune spice wars came out in EA, they showed mostly the basic system mechanics. Now it’s a more complete game. I’m sure it’s on their roadmap to create better game modes and differentiation during EA. Personally I like the 1-1 soldier combat from the earlier settlers vs an RTS model. Emphasizes economic gameplay. Would be cool to have buff and heal units tho.

I like how this: "manage widely branched production chains" is in the description. When the most difficult chain is 3 items.

Its a pity they didn't bring back the mines on the mountains, the random few iron, stone etc lying around on the map is just daft! Previous settlers games having to provide food to the mines was a good mechanic. Also why no livestock farming in this game? No fishing? Remember when we had donkeys in settlers to speed up moving goods around! this game just seems by watching and trying the demo to be so basic which is such a shame as settlers fans have so longed for a good game that feels like the old settlers only with new graphics and mechanics obviously. Thanks for your honest review something we don't always get from content creators much appreciated.

Fishing Huts and underground mines are in the roadmap for I think February. The EA-Version also needs you to provide food to the miners, as far as I know. Can't say anything for livestock.

Thank you for this info, wish however they'd release majority of these things on launch. As the games sits now it is rather basic, but still looking forward to giving it a go hopefully with a few patches the game becomes a lot more dynamic.@@DSMTyralion

Yeah the random minerals is killing me, loved to send geologist to survey the mountains and put permanent mines, some of the stone nodes in Pagonia are so small, u just delete the building after few minutes. But all in all looking forward the full release, if there will be one ^^

i was expecting much more improvement after your first time playing it a while ago. but tbh it seems to be same. it seems to be very nice game if they change some mechanics and some players input i.e cutting specific trees, moving buildings, placing decorations, managing productions, random rewards after exploration certain areas or hitting camps. etc still hoping for more , certainly looks a very nice game looking forward playing it more.

Well for early access I think it looks fine. Although I agree with the issues, but that's the good thing with early access, now they know and can fix it.

I do think it has some bugs. It's a cute game and reminds me of Settlers a lot. I haven't played it so my only thought is maybe you take over the Villages you trade with? Surely do not know. I hope whatever issues are clarified. It looks interesting 🤩

Thank you for your review. Did you tried the different difficulty levels and the quite complex map generator in combination? And in other streams, the villages were lively and the werewolves were a threat on its own.

Unfortunately they did not replicate the one thing that made settlers 4 so great, and thats the combat/conquest. You had to spawn hundreds of popular and then convert them into soldiers, which would lead to epic battles. This game is just to slow paced for that. And the set streets ruin a possible fast paced game in my opinion.

I'm honestly a bit shocked that you consider the Settlers 8 to be better than Pagonia. Whilst the latest settlers has some really nice visuals it's gameplay is so bland and simplified I regretted falling to the temptation. I understand people missing out on controlling units directly but there are so many other games that have more interesting combat than in Settlers 8. I much prefer the 'automation' of villagers and guards, in Pagonia, who you assign and then leave them to do their work although I must admit seeing battles decided by coin flips was disappointing. I feel like this game is trying to do something much more appealing than the settlers 8. Settlers 8 is pretty much just mobile settlers; I wouldn't be surprised if microtransactions appeared in it. At least with Pagonia we can look forwards to future development.

@@Nivarias You're right that the game needs work in several areas and its disappointing to see it release with such glaring issues but even so comparing what is here currently I prefer Pagonia over Settlers 8. I won't say your opinion is wrong though as you have some very good reasons to be disappointed.
