While I agree with the disdain for politics in movies, I also have to disagree with the perspective that this is new as well. I grew up on 80's and 90's flicks too. I can tell you there was personal politics all up in those movies just as much as it is now. And the same goes for the 70's and the 60's and the 50's. The reason why many of us look back on past movies as being free of politics I think is because we were kids back then. We didn't know any better. I would even say a large part of why we believe in certain ideas that we do comes from the subtle messages in those movies. Things we wouldn't normally think of as political, but maybe our parents or grandparents would. I think the main reason why its so bad as it is now is because of how pervasive the internet is and how it allows us to hide our identities and say what we want, when we want, where we want, and have no consequences. And also that the companies that cater to these online wars dont do it because of politics but money. If disney started losing a shit ton of cash from people not liking Rey, Poe, and Finn, they would back off that train in heartbeat. Is it a culture war, yea. But its one thats been going since before we were born

I think they don't like seeing men in the movie at all. I don't think it does anything for them, a lot of these people would probably prefer an all-female cast. Or at least the stars as female and the males as lackies. I don't think you can make a movie that will cater to every demographic. Today I watched a bunch of reaction videos to people who actually liked the Batwoman trailer. None of the heavy social messaging in the trailer bothered them. It's like it didn't register with them, they just preferred to focus on story details and easter eggs. Couldn't see the forest for the trees as they say. Hoping we don't get to the point where main characters predictably become only representations of each identity and where creators are so focused on trying to appease to everyone all the time. I saw the batwoman trailer and I have no interest in it and found a lot of things in it cringey. The point is, somebody out there will probably like it, and if enough people like it, I guess they should make it. But don't go out and ruin the things that I do like. I'd rather they'd push for entertainment that caters to specific groups, rather than to mash everything together into one pot, or worse, only focus on one group. Despite what loud people on the internet are trying to push toward.
@juicebowl5 жыл бұрын
@@saberiandream316 Ok? That's not what I was saying. Did you read my post I pretty much said I'm fine with all-female cast movies, not for myself, but for the people who do enjoy that type of casting. There are people who will enjoy the last Ghostbusters, because they will relate to the characters. So, make the film, but in return, don't force representation into every single film. Make films that do target specific demographics, without trying to cater to everyone else at the same time. I can think of one person I know right now who will never play a videogame with a male protagonist period. That's her choice. You can't force people to watch things they don't want to.

Unfortunately the subjectivity of some situations causes politics to be more present within entertainment whether it’s in a good or bad way. I highly suggest that you quit using youtube until you are mature enough to understand not to feel attacked by people's comments. Grow up

if only you stopped playing unnecessary politics in every single comment in this comment section acting like a fool
@adnanasif95385 жыл бұрын
"How am I acting like a fool ?" Your whole paragraph sums up the answer. In almost every single comment you replied, whenever someone replied to you and gave his opinion and tried to correct you, you feel attacked therefore go through every single reply of yours in this comment section before justifying yourself. No one likes ham fisted politics which you are doing here in every single comment. Maybe next time if someone attacks sjws feminists or left wingers, blame yourself for it is people like you those groups get hate.

Geekdom, are you aware that Funimation is currently changing translations to fit their political agendas. I never notice the lines because either it's all a hoax or I just hadn't watch many of their dubs. I usually just watch Toonami.

A hispanic/latina sister right here! I agree with EVERYTHING you stated in this video. Both sides are tired as all hell. I'm tired of these whiny SJW cry babies complaining and bitching each time they don't get what they want and supposedly speaking for other groups and ALSO each time these anti-SJW annoying cry babies throwing a tantrum each time they someone speak on politics in SOME sort of way even if it isn't shoehorned. I DO NOT fuck with either side- In my personal opinion, this is all just a fight between who is gonna have more power. I'm so glad I'm a centrist/indifferent/independent person because I definitely see bullshit from both sides and they are both, in my opinion, VERY shady. Also, as a female, I see ZERO issue with a film being male heavy. Damn, what is so wrong with that? The movie had men from all races and ethnicities, shouldn't they be happy about that? Oh wait, these SJW's don't even care about straight brown and black men like that anyways, see, this is my issue with SJW's; they only pretend to care about certain ethnic groups so they hijack them, control them and DESTROY them, all in the name of so-called equality and integration. And these Anti-SJW's? Y'all are just as BAD as the groups y'all love to shit on. Damn, someone says white male and y'all are already talking pure nonsense MOST of the time. I don't hate anybody, it's not in my soul to genuinely wish death on ANYBODY. In the end, I wish this political war would just stop, it's getting ridiculous. Btw, I'm from Mexico. Lol

I can be all over on this issue. I am a pretty dam liberal guy and I'm just sick of it from both sides. Yes I am very much in favor of a diverse cast and representation but people go to far and don't look at the big picture. Honestly though don't think the people on either side who are the most vocal are actual fans and probably would not go see the movie they rail against regardless. It is both sides for example complaints against SJ in Ghost in the Shell not taking into account that without SJ's attachment could not have been made to begin with. The real issue around this is that we don't have any female asian actresses like a Lucie Lue in her prime that could carry the film because the studio is not going to make a movie if they don't think they will make their money back. Simalery the MCU had to start out with the characters they had as are the biggest names they had at the time with recognition and the MCU would have failed without the OG MCU Avengers. Same with those who complain about white representation in Luke Cage or Black Panther. It just doesn't fit with the stories or locations so it makes sense in the same way I would not be down if Braveheart featured a 90% black cast. Kinda bringing me into another point in that I despise Mel Gibson but still consider Braveheart as one of my fondest movies. I personally haven't read or heard complaints against Endgame over female representation but would be disturbed because if the people making the complaints looked around Marvel is doing more pushing diversity than anyone in media so if they had any idea what they are talking about should be overwhelmingly supportive of the MCU. Have though had plenty of issue around the Brie Larson fallout. Yes Captain Marvel probably at the bottom of my MCU list but did find it enjoyable and worth the money I spent. Also had a bit of confusion why all the sudden everyone has a problem with Brie over comments similar to those made by Evans and Ruffalo for years without complaint. Have the same feelings about Last Jedi. Had seen in theaters once and again streaming but may be many years before ever have any desire to see it again. Can think of 3 other SW films I enjoyed less including Solo. I'm kinda old and had seen every SW movie in their theatrical release from Return of the Jedi through Last Jedi not counting Episodes 1 & 2 during the 97 re-releases. Solo just a story I did not care to see because had been perfectly happy with the backstory I built up in my head growing up based on what had been told in the OG trilogy films and had nothing to do with any feelings toward Last Jedi. Can also throw Discovery in the mix, people complaining almost a year in advance that SJW's ruined the show because of the casting well before we new it wasn't going to be that good for totally different reasons. Sorry about the nonsensical rant just when had seen my 10000th thumbnail with Bries mug and politics in the header my head almost exploded, no offense Geekdom I still love you. Think we all just need to sit back and stop paying attention. Like I mentioned in the rant the people being vocal and telling us we should not like this or that for this or that reasons are mainly just trying to get us against each other for their own motivations and are not fans and don't actually care about the movies or shows they are trolling. Owe, end rant and let the comment pounding begin.

I feel it was bad in The Last Jedi, but it wasn’t that bad in Captain Marvel the way the anti-hype was built to make mainstream believe it would be.

Brah just found your video 3 years later. You called it at 9:25, all the movies and shows this year were more about political agendas than creating good entertaining content. She hulk in particular has been the worst show I have seen maybe ever. Good video dude 👍

For me, I am nuanced on the issue. I still cringe at white Goku and white Sokka and Katara from Dragon Ball Evolution and the Last Airbender respectively. I cringe when white people are shoehorned in where they don't belong and I cringe at people of other ethnicities or genders when they are inserted where they don't belong too. All I want is for the actor to play the part because they are fit for the role. Race and gender do play some part on the casting, but it has to be done organically so it looks natural. For me, the only time when a person's ethnicity or gender is relevant is when you want to stay true to cultural or historical accuracy or authenticity; or familial relationships like Johnny and Susan Storm from Fantastic 4. That's why I like Black Panther because it was so organic and natural to cast Black people in it because Wakanda is a fictional country based in Africa, while I cringed at Black Johnny Storm when he has a white sister Susan Storm in the same movie (Fantastic 4 2015). Politics should never direct the final product of entertainment in general unless it is an element that plays a significant role in the story. If they force people of certain genders or ethnicities down our throats and insert them into roles where they don't belong, the experience will only feel inorganic and artificial. The West is completely out of touch with reality.

I agree. Make the movies like they were when we were kids. I'm talking about back during the original Fantastic Four With Chris Evans and Jessica Alba. Take us back to the Sam Raimi Spider-Man 1, 2, and 3 (I know it's a meme but, I enjoyed it lol.) Take us back to X-Men The Last Stand. It was movies like these as a kid where you were supposed to be able to ESCAPE what was going on in the real world around you. But no, now it's all about "You're trying to erase me by not including me." Get out of here, man. It's even dripping over into our video games now. You mean to tell me that a minority is that intimidating to where they control how everyone else views their media?? C'mon. There has got to be someone in a high place who's including in some of these minorities who is pushing for this thing. There has to be! It's okay though. These big wig media companies are finding out the hard way that if you go "woke" you go broke. Take a look at ESPN for example. Hopefully, everyone will follow suit.

I havent seen a single person saying that endgame was too male heavy. Ive seen more people bitching and complaining about how captain marvel is too strong and how the scene where all the women came to help captain marvel was too forced and was awful.
@Kingmationproductionz5 жыл бұрын
I'm all for representation in movies but if it feels forced it's not right that's all I got to say I remember after a test screening of secret Life of pets two that I got to see girls a woman who was claiming why weren't there any lesbians in the movie or why didn't they make Katey a lesbian or something around those lines
