I love that Jeremy Jordan included voice cracks, inhales, and an unstable voice, but not an unstable tone or pitch, and that made Varian seem a lot more real and it fit him really well because he's 14, and he looks so young. His voice just fits his personality so perfectly, and the emotion is reflected really well. I literally live for Varian's little voice cracks and random explanation noises.

Everytime there's a German VA as a character I like to think "this is canon" cause Tangled and TTS takes place in Germany last I checked.

After listening to all the other performances, I think it's interesting that Jeremy Jordan chose not to hide his inhales. Of course this was a character choice, but I think it's interesting. Also, clearly all of these actors are professionals (perhaps not in singing but professionals nonetheless), and yet some of them fall much shorter than others. It reminds me of what somebody said about the Olympics one time, that they should have a random average person competing alongside the athletes just to gain perspective on how insanely good every one of those Olympians are. XD

Wow, that first place was a surprise xD Kidding, Jeremy is PERFECT! He can sing whatever he wants! I wasn't expecting to see both the Italian Varians in the top 15, as I don't like the first one as much, but thank you! I'm not really familiar with all of these voices but Romanian really impressed me! He fits Varian so well! And also Serbian and Polish are fine! Plus I like/love many of the top 15 voices, Danish is really great! Love him to, but no one could beat Jeremy xD

I enjoyed this so much !! Thank you !!!! Although I must say I disagree with the classification of French voices, I could never picture #1 for Varian, and #2, though very different from the original, has something very touching about it. Bonus points for the Korean singer and the thing he does at the end of the reprise that gets me everytime (also, I can't believe I never noticed the automaton during the camera spin before !!???) And I 1000% agree for Jeremy Jordan... each note is pitch perfect, as much in height, strength and emotion, and he is Varian in every breath, hitch and voice crack. Pure art!!!

I've noticed that a lot of men sing deeper than their normal speaking voice. I bet that's probably the case with a few of these guys. hehe Sure some are more fitting for the role than others, but they still did their best. So I'll give them praise for that. I mean Varian's songs are difficult since they have either crazy high notes or emotions that are hard to pull off convincingly.

I was confused as to why we had 2 different VA's for Varian in the same season, but it was so worth it. That performance is one of my favorites. Listening to my favorite character speaking with such emotion in my language really made me feel happy and proud :)

Okay, so about the Swedish one, I’m from Sweden and I completely agree that he sounds unique but a little unprofessional, and I think that comes through even more, knowing the language. So I looked into it, and the reason why I think that is, is that he also voices not one, not two, but SEVEN characters other than Varian, Lance being the most prominent one, and the only other one who sings. I think he tried to make them sound as distinctly different as possible, cause his voice doesn’t sound natural as either of them. I have no idea why they did this, especially since I could think of at least 3 different actors that would had killed it as Lance, one of them actually being in the show, but only as additional voices. And while this dude is fine, I think his natural voice would have been a looot better for Varian than how it is now

Man I loved this ranking!! Personally I would have placed tamil higher. You are COMPLETELY valid in not liking the singing style but as a tamilian that is actually how most tamil songs sound with the extra.. i wouldn't call it vibrato but vibrato like bits so it was cool for me to see them change it to fit our style of singing. But then again, I'm really used to that kind of singing so I didn't see much wrong with it. Everything else was lovely tho! Great video.

12:14 my only problem with Greek 2 is that you can so obviously hear the auto tune 13:19 my personal favorite (besides Jeremy Jordan of course) is Czech. I just love the tone that he used, and his stylistic choices fit so well, even despite the difficulties of the language. But the real thing for me that determines it, is that he was ALWAYS on pitch. I love this guy whoever he is.

I think sometimes the problem isn’t necessarily the singer but the song, for example non of these songs were written for all those languages, so when you sing it in those languages the way you have to fit the words to the beat just won’t work

Amazing video. Really well put together. However, You did miss a few Varian voices. For Indonesian, you used the third voice (Adrian W.). There was two different singers for Let Me Make You Proud (M. Sofyan) and Ready As I’ll Ever Be (Byas M.) My main disagreements would be divided in 2 categories (obviously XD) LOWER: Croatian (he has potential but he's just atrocious here, by far the worst along with the Indian ones), Italian 1 (a real miscast, these songs are an atmosphere above his comfort line & the way I see it, his voice isn't that beautiful either), Swedish (he kinda irritates me, but I know he's technically a great cast) & Danish 2 (I love him but I don't think he's top 3 material). HIGHER: Malay (he's not perfect but I think he's rather lovely overall, and way better than the 2nd voice IMO), Bulgarian 1 (YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I LOVE HIM) & Norwegian (I'm glad you appreciate him more now, but it's still not enough 😌) Your top 14 is a knockout though, and no one can _ever_ take Jeremy's 1st place ❤ *MORE RANKINGS PLEASE* 🥺

Тут ещё проблема, наверное, в том, что его партии довольно сложные, и в совокупности с недостаточным профессионализмом исполнителей... получилось то, что получилось... (Yes yes yes, Vanya's voice timbre suits Varian very well, it's so high and sounds so young. The problem here is probably that his parts are quite hard to sing, and since it's combined with the singers' lack of professionalism... we got what we got...)

You say about the Dutch voice that it makes him younger. Actually, it's his normal voice almost. He doesn't do anything with his voice very much at all.

In the Czech version, I think if he'd try more it wouldn't sound so much "chopped off". I feel he just kinda don't care 'cause it's "just a kids show". For example at the end of LMMYP I think there should be originally "Zažehne hrdý tvůj výraz má zář!" which means "My glow will light up your proud expression!" but the VA sang "Zažene hrdý tvůj výraz má zář!" which means "My glow will fight off your proud expression!" Guess Czech Varian climbed up the hill and was like "Nah, the castle is too far away. You know what? My glow will fight off your proud expression, daddy! *turns and goes back home* PS: Just a little correction to the description, the Czech Varian isn't Petr Ryšavý, he's dubbed by Robin Pařík. Also the Russian vodka Varian is singed by Ivan Ponomarev (Иван Пономарёв) and Ivan Chaban is speaking. And the Mandarin Varian should be voiced by 徐偉翔 (Google says it's Xu Weixiang but I have no idea if it's spelled correctly).

I think many voice actors have that attitude, it's actually sad since it's not just a kids show :/ Oh lol, funny how just one small difference in the pronunciation can change the whole meaning xD Then it's a pity that he didn't pay attention on that :( I thought Robin only did the speaking, I don't even know where I found that other name lol. @@VariansAlchemyLab Well, I wondered where you found that Petr Ryšavý so I tried to find something about him. Turns out you were right. He sings Varian. Robin is only speaking. I'm terribly sorry. I literally thought the whole four years and something TTS is broadcasting that he's dubbed only by Robin. My whole life was a lie XD I thought so 'cause it was on something as the unofficial Czech dubbing website. Petr posted that he's singing him on his Instagram but I didn't think of searching for Varian's Czech VA there especially since he dubbed just about maximally 20 movies. instagram.com/p/CCtxvkrpL0L/ Also, I knew I've heard his name somewhere but I couldn't recall where I know him from. He's a musical actor and he plays in one of the biggest Czech musical theatres. I was in there on some plays a few times. They always give there those things where is written who played who. So I found one of these in my closet and looked into it. I literally have his autograph! I'm such a fool! XD And I absolutely agree that a lot of voice actors polish it off. It certainly isn't "just a kids show". The music is on Broadway level! Well, what else would you expect from Alan Menken, Glenn Slater and the amazing cast…

Now I even remember where I got his name from: He was also the singing voice of Aladdin (2019) & a friend told me he thinks he's also the voice of Varian. And it's okay, everyone does mistakes, I guess they sound pretty similar xD Oh yeah, then it's definitely Petr, good that he confirmed it on IG! Ooh so u knew him? That's so cool! You can count yourself lucky to have an autograph from Varian, as it were ;) Exactly, some songs could literally be broadway songs. Everyone who worked on them did a great job indeed!
