I'm trying to get my Dad on your program. He is also a former boxer and now an endurance cyclist. His idea of weights is dumbell pressing 45's for 40 reps. The only thing i wouldn't want him doing is barbell row because cycling compromises your posture and his ability to set his back needs work. He has recently developed neck pain leading to strength loss. I want him doing rows, but i feel he needs standing cable rows and face pulls. He is brilliant, unyielding, and convinced of his ways in a manner that average folk aren't going to be able to argue against because his reasoning is very well thought out. It'll take Mark Rippitoe to convince him. Mark is brilliant and mean as shit, my dad will respond to that. We like that.

SS is great but I’d more recommend bigger leaner stronger book by mike Mathews if you want to build a more aesthetic physique while learning the basics of compound lifts, nutrition etc

Did you try adding less weight each session? 2.5 instead of 5?

Realize that this program is not the end all be all for everyone. It’s got this cult vibe to it, and it’s silly. Go get on a better program, linear progression is literally just the beginning.
@BitMatt1
@BitMatt1 2 жыл бұрын
@@dakotagower86 it's literally called "Novice linear progression" you do it until you become an intermediate, then you move on to other programs.

This is bullshit! You need to be teaching people how to juggle dumbbells while balancing on a medicine ball on top of a unicycle,and having tennis balls thrown at their face after completing downward facing dog!

Personal trainers are absolutely embarrassing. They know very very little. They just do what ACSM or NASM or ISSA tells them to do and they don't think critically. I have a professor who is also a personal trainer who actually bragged about bringing up a kids squat by about 60lb in almost a full year. I did that in a month and a half using SS.
