Sometimes when I watch these purging videos, I wonder if the crafter uses all of these stamps. It would be quite a task to use every single stamp in the collection. It's almost like the crafter enjoys collecting, categorizing, storing, displaying everything more than actual using their supplies. It seems like money wasted to keep buying so many of the same seasonal, sentiment, birthday, etc. stamps only to get rid of the ones you already have and bring in more and more. It's like a never ending battle. Don't get me wrong, it's nice to have variety, but for goodness sake, too much is too much! I'm glad I'm not on the purge/ buy merry -go -round. It’s a little different when you do this as a business. There is a need to be using current product which inevitably leads to more turnover than if I was only creating for myself. I hope you have a great collection of supplies that you enjoy using.

So how do you get rid of your old stamps other than throwing them in the bin? I live in Australia so is there a ctmh site or what do you do. I will have to do something eventually because none of my family are interested & I know that once I depart my family will order a big bin & get rid of the lot at the local tip. I have one container full of christmas stamps & so don't buy anymore. I also have many, many stamps I have never used & look at them & wonder why I bought them in the first place.

I've never thrown any away. Usually places like daycares, schools, seniors homes or anywhere that does community programs can be good places to donate. I've mostly sold them to other crafters for really cheap ($2-3 per set).

Purging is hard. Luckily I have only 2 boxes of close to my heart. But I have many other companies that I need to go through and purge. I'm always trying to organize them so I can use them more. I think I need to combine all the companies so I use them all. Do you only have close to my heart?

Purging is really hard but also necessary unfortunately! I have some stamps from other companies and so far I’ve just been putting them into my stamp boxes with my ctmh stamps. I’m getting ready to redo my storage though now that I’m a Stampin’ Up demo and I need a solution for my CTMH and SU stamps that’s makes better use of my space.

Purging my stamps is one task I put off as long as possible! Good for you staying on top of your stash. I wish it was easier to get the old stamps out of your house. I’m thinking I might see if some seniors homes, schools, etc might want them.

What did you do with the old snap style stamp envelopes? Looked like you had removed stamps. Liked your categories.

I removed the snaps on those envelopes with a wood burning tool and then used a hot knife adapter to cut a slit in the stamp envelop. This saves so much space and I'm glad I took the time to do this!!

Space is always at a premium in a craft room, I like how you have set containers that keep you organized and limit what you keep. Lots to think about.

Yes I have to be strict with myself that I won't start new containers so I can keep more stamps! I use stamps quite a bit so it makes sense for me to have a large collection, but I don't want them taking over my space.

I have never purged except when I accidentally get another stamp. I am at the point I need to buy so many of the stamps I bought for projects I haven't done yet so I am hanging onto them. Not sure what to do with the stamp sets I might purge

My first thought…I am so jealous of all that you have, but I got over it very quickly! Lol. I focused on your thought process and I have so many unused, new sets that I love, so I better get stamping! I am using a colored-dot system and have run out of dots. Why I never thought to use just a white dot and numbers!! So simple and yet, such a game changer! ♥️thank you.

Having a huge stash or turnover in products is part of working in this industry for so long. I'm going on my 13th year of doing this full time and that's A LOT of stuff over the years! lol I'm so glad you were able to get some ideas that will hopefully help you in managing your stash too. I've been using the numbering system for quite a few years now and along with Evernote I feel like it works perfectly for me.

I never purge. I probably should, because after 30+ years I have a ton of stamps & dies from many manufacturers. I feel that as long as I can find room for them, It's not hurting anything by keeping them. I also store by categories with Halloween, Christmas and birthdays being my largest collections.

If I wasn't running out of space I would keep them too! There have been lots of times when I have a specific idea in my head and I go back and use an old stamp to make it happen. If you notice in the video I only got rid of the amount I needed to fit the new stamps. 🤣

Love your way of purging! I hate to get rid of stamps b/c I’m like you, I have a pretty good idea of what I have and as sure as I get rid of it, I’ll want it. Evernote is my best friend. Saves so much time in looking for a certain icon or stamp set.

Hi! Im from South Africa and neednt purge any if my stamps as stamps here are pretty expensive and not always available so we hold on tight to what we have😂 what do you do with the stamps you purge. I loved this video. Its nice to see you and to see a little begind the scenes every now and then as well.❤

I think if I was primarily a hobby scrapbooker/cardmaker then I wouldn't purge my stash very much either because you're right stamps are definitely an investment especially once you start adding the coordinating dies, embossing folders and stencils! I have done a few things with my purged stamps over the years. Selling for really cheap at in person sales, retreats, etc and also donating. I think this time I will probably donate them.

This was so helpful! I have 750 stamps in Evernote and I need to purge. I hate having to list them individually for sale-such a pain! I tried selling as a bundle but I didn’t have much luck there! I hope others post their ideas for purging!

Selling used stamps is so much work! The time commitment is the reason I haven't tried to sell online.

I remove the branding card from stamp only sets and it creates quite a bit more room in the boxes.

That's a great idea! I have also removed the foam sheet from many of my older sets (before the coordinating dies) and that really helped with space as well.
