Admittedly, I’ve only gotten to 29:28, so maybe you’ll pull your foot out of your mouth somewhere in the remainder of the video, but I have to call you out on the following: (1) Saying that Venus de Milo has “all the best bits”? Maybe from the viewer’s gaze, but not from her own. It was an obvious and obnoxious attempt to draw a parallel between the statue and the artist/mother. Your statement does a disservice to both. (2) Blathering on about the beautiful women of Los Angeles - a multicultural city - and then only showing well-toned, young white women? Seriously? You just lost any credibility you built up in the previous segment. I’m going to watch the remainder, so maybe, just maybe you’ll surprise us and redeem yourself.

When one of Mr. Januszczak's offerings comes to its end, I find myself grateful for and uplifted by what I have just seen, but bitterly disappointed that there isn't going to be more. He reminds me of my History of Art professor at John Hopkins University, the late Phoebe Stanton, who held her auditorium-sized classes spell-bound for three hour long lectures every week for a full semester.

I've aways known about Robert Smithson's Spiral Jetty, and respected the idea as much as anyone does the academic things read about in books. But watching Waldemar explore and talk about it communicated pure JOY. And I understood clearly that even the most abstract, abstruse 'art' can communicate so much more than one expects...His honest happiness in being *there* radiated powerfully from my computer screen to me directly. And that heart-lifting bit of the show alone made life somehow more worthwhile. The piece concerning Nancy Holt, Robert's wife, was nearly as powerful to move the heart as well as the mind. Very much appreciated💥🔥👁🔥💥 Thank you🌎

It's so heartbreaking to watch this video in 2023, when Alison Lapper's son is not longer here. Parys was too fragile for this cruel world. Sending my best thoughts and warm feelings to his mum. I wish people would care as much about others and their mental health as much they care for labels, "likes", and spreadsheet numbers. Whoever is reading this: you are a valuable and amazing soul, don't let others discourage you or push you down.

I find myself laughing outright at your witticisms and sometimes it feels like a simple conversation with a friend but I'm inspired and learning so much. My question is why you didn't include the Egyptian pyramids as well as the statue of Jesus in Brazil in this film on famous sculptures. Each one closes with a slight variation on that line from the old film noir, The Naked City - "There are eight million stories in the naked city; this has been one of them." But Hans Bellmer is a lot more frightening than the actor, George Raft, ever was. OMG!!! So many turns and detours here. Such a captivating series of documentaries. But Waldemar always is 😃 Finally, as I'm sure many know, Touchdown Jesus was destroyed after being hit by lightning. Take that as you will.

Ahhh ppl are going to hate me but I'm not a fan of Alison's sculpture. It's as though they're memorializing her for her disability just to be edgy. Isn't she more than that? If she's a fabulous artist, absolutely, but to emphasize a disability as though that encompasses her whole being is to say she's nothing more than that. Seems to me the statue was sculpted for shock value and nothing more. I'm surprised someone as enlightened as Alison seems, allowed herself to be taken advantage of & in my opinion, belittled in that way. Case in point? The narrators comments about her breasts. How many people walking by the statue know who Alison, the person, is?
@lorilynnchristiansen2071

I had many similar thoughts. Would her depiction have been as "interesting" if her differences were not shown? And the comments about her breasts...please stop.
