If you're buying a KO of a figure that you can't get through official means, that's fine since you're only other option is after market and HasTac gets exactly zero % of the revenue either way. I'm still surprised that they're yet to turn it into Cybertron Ransack. The headsculpt, the front of the bike hanging off the back the way it does, the wheels being on the sides of the legs in the specific way that they are. It all SCREAMS "Cybertron Ransack". Ransack even had heels, I had a black and green repaint of that figure and I remember his flip out heels.

The very first Shadow Striker was a black and yellow repaint of Sideburn, so Legacy is once again doing the thing of making a character based off of multiple versions of that character so it can be easily remolded and repainted into other characters with that same baseline connection. But unlike previous figures this is actually being made into the figure it should really have been at the start, as we're getting a Sideburn later this year. Actually it's funny, they just showed off a painted prototype of Omega Prime and they used Shadow Striker to demonstrate the trailer functionality of Ultra Magnus. I guess seeing things from an animators perspective really changes views of certain things, such as the kibble cape. Where you see random door panels with a useless hinge I can't help but see Lego Batman Movie Joker style coat tails. They add a lot of flow to her movement, like Crosshair's trench coat. I feel these kinds of elements help make a transformer design feel more alive, more characterful, more tangent, or even just more memorable. The bumper comes off to make the gun a crossbow like the original. I find it weird how you'll only defend a feature of a design if the G1 version did it, but never if any other version did it. The original Shadow Striker had a shield made of the roof and a crossbow made of the bumper, it's exactly as it's supposed to be here in terms of the older version of the character. Also seriously? The puffed chest mod, which Gei didn't even come up with, get's credit to him but my entire far superior looking Skullgrin tank mode which I not only made but posted a full transformation tutorial for gets no credit? Baltmatrix might have pronounced by name wrong but at least he did it.

I think I'd actually enjoy this toy if it weren't trying to advertise it as CYBERVERSE Shadow Striker. It's actually a pretty good representation of the ORIGINAL Shadow Striker, who was a straight Sideburn repaint, and the gun combo looks a lot like the "crossbow" gun had. It's just a shame they tried to cram a pretool and homage into a figure of a character people actually like, with the wrong paint job

I think integrated shields make some sense. Every hinge and servo is a weak point that can be damaged, so a big lump of metal that doesn't have to do anything but sit there and take hits should be more durable than the robot beneath it. But it should look like a shield and not just a partsforming piece, which is where figures like Cliffjumper fail.

Speedbreaker and Mach Alert are *fine*. And Wildride is kind of crazy. I wish that we’d get more transformations that used the parts of the vehicle in ways you’d never expect them to go. And side note, the crossbow thing is something that the original toy did because it was a recolor of Speedbreaker. The issue here is that it’s too blocky and narrow for it actually make sense.

I happened to find Sideburn today at Gamestop and figured I'd pick him up to go with my Omega prime when it finally releases. Honestly, he looks pretty good. It's pretty clear somebody really likes the figure, because they went through a lot of trouble to give it a sparkly yellow translucent roof, metallic face paint, and white paint on the legs, although it is already scratching off on the contact point with the shin peg, it's not visible from most angles.

After watching gei4mei's video on this figure, it awakened something in my second oldest son and now he wants this figure like no one's business. Also the figure is a blending of cyberverse shadow striker and her universe 2003 version of her. Her 2003 version was a recolour/retool of sideburn. She was also recoloured into her twin sister roulette.

For a lukewarm defense of this figure: I actually think it looks really good. The coattails are really cool to me and I enjoy posing them. The colors just sing to me in a way I can't describe. And with the wide hips and the hourglass like figure- I actually do think this looks very feminine. Plus the plastic itself is giving me that Siege Optimus Prime hand candy feel. But even with those bonuses, the transformation fucking sucks, the posability being so hindered is a massive problem, and the parts forming is just absolutely egregious. Also the shield can go fuck itself for how often it comes unplugged and how easily it's damaged. This is better than the Arcee from earthrise, but that's not a high bar comparison. And that's really only if you're into the aesthetic; as said I am

I’ll buy every 86 Jazz repaint/remold, I’ll buy every Animated Bumblebee repaint/remold, I’ll buy every Skids repaint/remold, and aside for the Bee and Cliff molds from ER I’ll buy every Minibot repaint/remold. There are plenty of figures worth buying again and again. This is one of those figures not even worth buying once, because I returned it the next day. It’s a pile of garbage, and an insult.

I added a blast effect to her knife to turn it into a lightsaber. And I am checking which of my other deluxes have similar arm pegs to frankenstein her. So far, Siege Hound´s arms can replace hers at the bicep swivel.

As someone who was about 20 y.o. when RiD2001 first aired, just because I liked Prowl better didn't mean I hated Sideburn. For the kid relatable main character, he's only second to TFA Bumblebee for the shows I've seen. I don't think it works for the new figure, but I thought it was hilarious attaching his missle launcher to his groin. Especially his red recolor, and calling him Rodiums Prime.

Imagine if they retooled her into a G1ified Movie Crosshairs. Side Burn doesn’t sound so bad, now does he? Sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy her, man. I was genuinely shocked by how much I loved Evolution Shadow Striker; I hated how she looked in stock photos but got her in hand and fell in love. Sure, her articulation is a mess and I’d have preferred a mold that wasn’t destined for a C-tier kid-appeal character, but she’s a good amalgam of both her Universe 2003 and Cyberverse iterations (we need more amalgamated takes on characters, dang it; where’s my AOE colors IDW Drift with RID 2015 car mode, HasTak?!), her transformation is inventive (seems better than the original Side Burn anyway), and my copy has pretty solid QC.

i got her for christmas, and i really like her. I don't see how the body is male, there's nothing male or female about the body. Also something weird I noticed when I unscrewed the head, the eyes are a painted clear plastic insert, even though there's no semblance of light piping.

At least being a Frankenstein abomination is in character for Shadowstriker… I’ve had Shadowstriker in my hand multiple times and I just can’t pull the trigger on buying her. I can cope with the robot mode being objectively bad if they just gave her Sideburn’s alt mode. A Dodge Viper may not be the right alt mode but it’d at least be cool enough to justify the toy’s existence.

The wheels on the backpack are meant to represent the Cyberverse Shadow striker design, while the reason they used a Sideburn pre tool is because of some Botcon reference (you can check with Chris McFeely for more on that). I wish they had just done a straight repaint of the sideburn design instead of compromising it for the sake of more Cyberverse Shadow Striker accuracy (not that Sideburn is necessarily better than Shadow Striker, but that design is better than this figure) I’m 90% sure there’s no pin with the shield because in play that piece would snap off if there was a pin, rather than pop off with no pin. Speaking of toxitron, I just got a couple of them on sale yesterday, and the transformation joint on the shoulder of my Dorito Jazz is really loose. Any ideas on how to tighten that up?

I thought she’s okay. She does things really bad but the tolerances on mine being super smooth make her really fun to transform. She is not accurate to anything at all, and the Sideburn is gonna stink, but I like messing with her a lot.

While I haven't experienced the mould myself, I like that you're one of the few bringing everyone's attention to these issues. The design teams are cutting way too many corners. This needs to be addressed because we risk the possibility of too many low-effort transformers being released. I prefer if they made far fewer high-quality figures than what's happening now. All in all, I can't wait for your Evolution retrospective. Aside from a few highlights, it's been mostly a meh toy line.
