I honestly think the ornamentation works really well as a spice added on top of the series. Designs like Deathsaurus and Magmatron work really well when transplanted into spaces where that ornamentation lends them unique presence, like IDW 2005 or beast wars the gathering

Got this figure for Christmas, and I am not disappointed at all Robot mode is great, alt mode is one of my favorite things of this figure, combined mode is good, and the transformations are fun as well And I actually really like the sword size for motormaster, it reminds me of those massive swords that require two hands to wield or even just pick up.

I got this toy as a surprise from my mom this Christmas. I couldn’t complain because well, it came from my mom.🙄 (in all fairness my mother is a kind soul and I love her dearly. I also I think the toy is pretty good for, you know…a parts-forming pre-tool.)

I never had the Cyclonus But I recently got Metal Hawk as a Christmas gift and somehow Along with Legacy Shrapnel and 87 Brawn feel great. Then again I'm a fidgity person and these are easy to handle I have Metalhawk and Jhiaxus paired up with my own backstory and they feel amazing

I agree: they'll probably end up making a box set like a year or two after all of these come out like Menasor; so the people who end up going through the trouble to get all of these guys will again feel like it was a total waste of the time they put into getting these things.

On the point of devastator being more partsformy than other combiners despite being made of 6 bots, I put the blame on the og design's use of long haul. The container of the dump truck has to simultaneously be his legs and the back of devastator, meaning that a whole section of the waist bot can't be used for combination in a way that makes sense. Most attempts to rectify that issue usually leads to either long haul or devastator being compromised in some aspect (see CW). Perhaps mmc's take will pull off something unexpected that will rewrite how the waist is done, bit until then I can understand them using a partsforming wait for the combined mode (still less combiner kibble than menasor and superion though lol)

They should've made each component transform into a different Robot and marketed it as a Combiner. Less partsforming, cleaner alt modes, each Dinosaur ends up with a sick robot mode, AND you get to erase the cursed Chimerasaurus form from memory.
