Same with my dad. He served in the Navy, USS General W.A. Mann AP112. He never talked much about his time serving. Then, in his later years, he shared some info with us.

This is a fairly common theme around Vets in general and AA soldiers in particular. It wasn't until my father was in his 60s over a bowls of ice cream that he told me certain stories about WW2 and the role we played in securing the victory and I'm a vet myself(LOL)..I do think they talk to each other when the opportunity presented itself

They were the U S Army best kept secret--even from the Army itself! The 761th Tank Battalion was the very definition of America's first Super Tankers. Thus, it should come as no surprise, that before their long and often delayed deployment to the European Theater; they held the Army's stateside title of Gunnery Champions. Nor are we further surprised, that it was the Black Panthers Tank Battalion, along with its supporing companies that was chosen to spearhead the assault and successful breach of the (then deemed) impregnable Stegfried Line--infamous for huge Allies casualties during previous unsucessful attacks. There was never a more valuable Allied mission, for with its success; the door was now opened for the great Allies push to Berlin.

Wow, forgotten history all my life. I never heard of the original Black Panther that they were even black Tank operators normally thank God for the Internet so it makes him be out most the time the veterans don’t want to talk about the experience and they need to be celebrated for the carriage.💯☺️

Black Panther Party and Panther Tank crew has nothing to do with each other. Black WW2 Tank crews fought for American imperialism / BPP political org fought for freedom and justice of African Americans. DON'T COMPARE!

Rubin Rivers is my cousin, and we knew he was nominated in 1945. But I had three other uncles in WWII, one of whom brought home an SS MP40 that hung over his TV, and I am a Vietnam vet. But to ask the question, is this critical history saying you are a CODA-Child of the Dark Ages? You are one of the 90 million born after the years 1960 to 2000, programmed by the likes of Ronald Reagan, Roy Cohen, and William Buckley - Operation Dumbass; as long as they are stupid, we can tell them anything. The solution is to ensure that everyone knows everything now and forever that is the truth. When I was born in 1949 when blacks were getting the GI bill. My family owned 10 properties and farms. The oldest is 170 years and 200 acres in Alabama.

Look forward to seeing this documentary. I think if you stupidly abuse people for decades and centuries because they are different,your inbuilt conscience, aka guilt, would make you worry about retribution even if it didn't come. It's called guilt. Go fight and die, but come back for more of the same. Internal colonialism. On the Shermans, that is an ongoing myth. They weren't called Ronsons,that company came out after WW2 in the 50s. Second most medium tanks when hit brew up. Any medium tank full of fuel and ammo wont do well when hit. There were a lot of Shermans and it was a mid-armoured mid-gunned tank. Attacking homeland Germany with its heavy armour on the defence any medium tank would suffer. Its high profile didn't help but was upgraded throughout the 3 years America fought. Shame its taken this long to draw attention to these brave men.
