Persuasion by Jane Austen (1817) has been adapted many times, each version taking its own approach to solve the storytelling problem of a heroine who, at least initially, is not talkative or demonstrative. I explore the three most recent adaptions, comparing scene to scene from the 1995, the 2007, and the 2022 versions.
Scene 1 - Anne Elliot and Captain Wentworth meet again after 8 years
Scene 2 - Louisa falls on The Cobb in Lyme Regis
Scene 3 - Anne and Wentworth meet in the shop in rainy Bath
Have you seen them all? Do you have a favorite version? A favorite Anne? A favorite Captain Wentworth?
