My sandrail had the positive from the igniter to the coil+........Nothing but problems, until the system fried. I replaced with the exact Pertronix system, wired the igniter to the battery......MAGIC!!!!

Very clear and concise. I am finding many of these mistakes were made when pertronix was installed in my car by my mechanic. A few other things that can go wrong: 1. Magnets can fall out of the sleeve. Apparently they come with a green tape to hold the magnets in place. Many remove the tape and the magnets can get flung out. 2. The module wires can get weak and develop a break, especially when the vacuum advance kicks in and physically moves the module

This is awesome, very informative and extremely helpful. Thank you so much for doing this video. I have a '66 Ply Fury with a 440 with a stock single points distributor and I will be installing the Pertronix Ignitor II with the PERTRONIX 45011 FLAME-THROWER II COIL 45,000 VOLT 0.6 OHM.

Hello Bob, that is a Great insight into the Pertronix electronic ignition system!!! The advatages /disadvantages, Do's & Dont's... One thing that might be overlooked is the possibility of a stronger spark... I have heard that one of the advantages of electronic primary triggering of battery-coil type ignition systems is; the extremely rapid rise in primary voltage to the coil. The voltage collapse from the closing of the ignition points, is not anywhere near as rapid as an electronic signal coming from an electronic switching unit.... Those rapid pulses to the coil primary windings, rapidly induce voltage into the secondary windings- and produces a hotter, more rapid spark. There are oscilo-scopes that have proven this... The voltage spikes are an issue to any electronic device, as you have pointed out here - and with that being noticed, the battery and charging system does need to be working properly as you pointed out here... One other thing that also needs to be noticed is the importance of good clean connections and terminals that are attached to the battery and charging system... I can't tell you how many times that I found dirty/corroded/worn battery terminals and cable connections going to & from batteries to be the direct cause of numerous electrical issues... The battery acts as a very large capacitor, besides starting the vehicle and storing electrical power... It and the electrical terminals have to be in good shape, to keep those features...

Any advice would be appreciated. I have a pertronix ignitor 2 module on my golf cart. Any reason why the manufacturer Columbia Par Car had one installed?? My cart just starts without running. Would the module have to be replaced??

Our first family is Hind Ambassador Mark IV 4 cylinder 1489 cc petrol engine with conventional contact breaker point and condenser Lucas TVS 25D4 vaccum assisted ignition distributor and 12V induction coil with 12 V negative earthing battery. The engine is BMC. Would you please suggest any electronic conversion kit for this car to replace its points and condenser.

You get your stronger spark through the coil. Not points and cond./ Pertronix Ignitor.

In other words do not use it. Good info.

Pertronix sucks! I wired it up correctly, and it put my GTO on a roll-back 3 times. Don't buy their stuff! A couple days after the warranty expires, your car expires. Trust me, you can't replace your points in 10 degree weather, in the dark. Pertronix sucks!!!

Thats RIGHT BUY PERTRONICS THEN TAKE IT APART FIX IT THENE PUT IT IN YOUR ENGINE AND HOPE IT WORKS
