Peru and a Chinese state-owned company have resolved a dispute over who will have access to a massive US$1.3 billion port being built by the company near the Peruvian capital Lima. The Chancay megaport dispute was dropped ahead of a meeting in Beijing between Peruvian President Dina Boluarte and her Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.

The dispute was mainly because some politicians wanted a piece on a project that was already about to finish, but the rest parts didnt let them get away with it

The old house vs. new house (ruling party). The old house signed the deal. The new house wants the cookie crumbs. The longer the court case prolong, the more issues it created. Less jobs, less trade, more poor and angry citizens, more protests, etc.

No, the video was clear. The Chinese company built the port for itself and China not for Peru meaning Peruvian will not get much benefit from it. It’s what the colonial powers used to do, whatever construction the would built was for their needs not for the country or the natives.
@XTheLolX301
@XTheLolX301 11 сағат бұрын
@@rayleigh8 the build was 60% chinese Company/40% peruvian company, but Is not from the goverment, the benefits for Peru comes from works, business, exports and imports around the Port and the tariff regime of the use and location of the Port, of course the companies that invested there Will keep the royalty to regain the money they put into the project

@@XTheLolX301 did you not see the video?. It would be Chinese operated, Chinese controlled. It’s even worst if the Chinese company did not pay for it all because they’ll still control it all. This is colonial power type of mentality. Win-Win, China wins twice, the natives win zero. It is a joke. These countries better wake up and do better deals.

It was not Perú's movement here. There was a chilean infiltrator, with interests for its own chilean company (Luksic Group) and USA entities, in the Ports Administration who was ordered to sabotage the port. China and Perú has been close allies for more than a hundred years, we have chinese population as close as if they were our own. Myself I have a chinese grand-grand-father. This is sabotage from the rival country of Chile, it's always been like this. Only now it's starting to be shown internationally.

As long as they don't self explode, Chinese EV brands are known to be a death trap, especially BYD. Parts are often poorly made and breaking soon after being purchased. There are countless videos of them starting on fire suddenly while parked and while driven. Chinese owners are always on social media complaining about parts falling off or cracking soon after purchase. There are thousands upon thousands of Chinese EVs never used just sitting in massive lots, fields and international ports rusting away. China made way more than what they could sell. The next plan is to try and pass them off to poorer countries in SE asia, Afica and South America.

@@grastlos1 Little pink, little pink... Let's randomly throw in another brand as if that changes the fundamental issues with Chinese EVs. It doesn't matter who manufactures the car; if lives and finances are at risk, it's a serious problem. Since 2021, BYD has had 10 showroom fires reportedly caused by their batteries. Despite CCP authorities' efforts to suppress reports of local car explosions, some incidents manage to leak out. I've heard firsthand accounts and concerns from friends living there. European ports are overwhelmed with Chinese cars; as of April, many have languished for over 18 months waiting to be moved. These cars keep coming, but the truth remains: facts are facts, whether acknowledged or not. You can't bury the reality that these unwanted EVs may find their way to places like Africa, Southeast Asia, and South America. Unlike in China, where information is tightly controlled, these regions allow for more open discussion. If similar challenges arise there, they won't stay hidden for long.

I think the Global South is fed up with the West's international rule-based order. But they have to get along with the West anyway because BRICS + is building up strength, but not super-super-strong yet. When China builds infrastructure in other countries, some countries would try to change the agreements mid-way through but China has built-in conditions in their contracts in which China would suspend further construction on the project and demand the host country to repay all the investment back plus interest. That's what happen in Uganda and Argentina recently and these 2 countries quickly change their position and adhere back to the original contract with China.

From a poster here is a fuller picture: I'm peruvian, I'll expand on this as this report is sort of "yellowish", this was a single law group that used a void in the law to create a lawsuit, the APN (national port authority) president was crooked and accepted the lawsuit, we don't know where the money came from either from the US or Chile, but the thing is that it happened. instantly everyone turned on them and basically overnight congress drafted a legal framework to avoid any further court cases about this, and so the issue was dropped. This was not a "Peru" issue but a specific group, additionally, the whole issue stems from the fact that supposedly the coast can't be privately owned, that's the legal framework given to clubs and stuff to avoid people being unable to use the beach or fish (basically sand and sea area). It was a gray area however the APN did approve the project years before and so they had no right to take it away regardless, hence why congress acted upon and fixed the hole in the law for ports. Again, 99.9% including most of the government (congress) is pro port, it was just a tiny group probably US backed that tried to create trouble.

Elon Musk's one formula for success in life is to always do businesses with winners, NOT, with losers. After ditching the announced India meeting (21-22 April 2024) for the unannounced China meeting (Sunday 28th April 2024), Elon Musk became $36 billion richer since returning from his triumphant China trip (Business Insider) and his company shares of Tesla jumped 18% (CBS News: Tesla stock rises after CEO Musk scores key deals with China on weekend trip to Beijing) in just ONE DAY on Monday 29th April 2024, after stock trading resumes immediately after the weekend. That is the power of India, oops, I mean China. 🤭😅🤣😂🤔😭😡🤬

The Solomon Islands strengthened its ties with China under former Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare. But since he stepped down in May after a poor election showing, people across the country are reassessing this relationship. Solomon Islands Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele met Australian counterpart Anthony Albanese in Canberra on Wednesday to discuss security and development ties, Australia is the Solomon Islands largest development partner and wants to deepen security ties. Manele had told Australia's Defence Minister Richard Marles, who visited last month, his government was undertaking a security review to determine the future of policing cooperation. 🤣🤣🤣

China is building a silk road by funding infrastructure, providing them control of trade and shipping infrastructure in several countries around the world. That provides a very sketchy country with way too much power over international trade, time will tell on what they do with it.
