Great video! After 30-06 convertions almost all the remains of 7.65 were converted to 7.62x51mm. In Peru today mostly you can find 7.62 not to many originals 7.65 and almost impossible a 30-06

I just picked mine up today. Finally made the leap to buying online. Found it and it looked great. I got it all apart rn, it's cleaning up pretty good. Just getting the grime and crud all off. I can't wait to shoot soon after!😄

I never had a problem running new PPU 7.65x53mm in my Modelo 1935. The action on mine was incredible, recoil as you noted is very pleasant, and it was doubly special to me as my wife is from Peru. I kick myself constantly for letting mine go, but we were in a financial bind at the time. Hoping to get a line on a replacement soon.

In the November 1960 issue of Guns magazine, in an article on the guns of the Chaco war, the FN model 1927, in 7.65mm, was disparaged for jamming after it warmed up. The author, Kurt Severin, was attached to the Bolivian army as an observer, and was a professional photographer until his death. Since he was actually there, his observations carry some weight. Since the Belgian service cartridge was 7.65mm, you'd think that they would know how to chamber a rifle for it.

I own one of these rifles in 30-06. The rifles here are in fair condition, but maybe I got lucky because the one I have is in immaculate condition. I would post a picture if I knew how to do it.

I got one of these, outstanding rifle and great to shoot along with my Peruvian 1891 carbine. Didn't realize there was a difference between the short rifle and carbine designations for the 1935 though, going to have to research that.

My 1935 Peruvian in 7.65 is a great shooter and ammo isn't a concern if you roll your own. I'd like to try one of the .06 conversions.

I'd also like to add that I had similar loading issues with a couple Mausers in the past. One of them was early in my collecting career and it ended up being a bunch of gunk under the extractor. The other was a burr that was folded inward on the extractor. Likely caused by someone thinking it was a different caliber and enthusiastically trying to chamber the round. I have made it a normal practice when making a purchase of a gun I plan to shoot to disassemble everything within reason and that includes the extractor. I got a Chilean 1895 with the wrong extractor and didn't notice until I took everything apart.

I own one that was converted to 06 it doesn’t shoot as well as my 03 but it’s nice and about 75% paint left on the action. My late father was Peruvian and although he didn’t serve in the military he said the Peruvian army still paraded around with similar looking guns in the late 1980s

I remember surplus mausers Gara ds and m1 carbines lining the walls at Montgomery wards for 125. My dad used to see barrels of them for 35. We expected them to dry up, but never get valuable like they did.

Great video. Ive been waiting for this video since it was mentioned in the podcast. It did not disappoint. Thank you. Do you plan to do a video on the Columbian Mausers? I also think a video on all (obtainable) South American Mauser rifles would be awesome. They are supremely underrated.

Thank you, always on the lookout for a great Mauser, variants tend to be much cheaper than the German K98. Hard to beat my 44 M1, Garand, with a flash suppressor.

Holy mole. I've been waiting for someone to make a video on my rifle. Thanks for the video. I want to get the scope mount from Bad Ace, but they don't know which of their products will work. Specs for the rear sight will help me a lot.

Do you know much about Fn Carbines? I got an 8mm carbine with no crest, little markings, and I can’t find anything on it. Condition is 10/10 with a dark shiny blue. There is a little eagle N proof on the bolt which I think is post war German and half scrubbed waffenampt on the extractor. It does have that buttplate with the waves in it. Some guy on 4chan said it was “waffen Frankonia” commercial gun. I bought it as an Fn Carbine but I just have no idea what it is now.

I wonder if you’re rifles extractors are having issues. I know with my 1924 Serbian rifle that it would do the same thing and the headspace wasn’t tight. Turned out the rounds were jumping out of the magazine a head of the bolt and the extractor didn’t have a smooth enough bevel to snap over the cartridge rim.

Being finicky about what ammo fits the action means it isn’t shot out or out of head space. So that’s good. I’d rather struggle to shut it than to have it loose when closed. Good looking guns. I have an Argentine 1909 in 30-06. True 30-06 barrel. Not just re chambered. One of the most accurate Mausers I have😊. Btw your a nice lookin guy, but the mustache has gotta go. 😂

Were the .30cal. CONVERSIONS just a Chamber change,or a complete Barrel change? IE, 30 cal chamber, 7,65 rifling ( .312" groove) or a standard. 308" Groove .30 cal barrel??? Also some were later cont'd to 7,62 NATO?? DocAV in Australia ( have a 1932 and a 1935)

Would love to own either one (preferably 30-06 now that I think about it lol) but the bolts getting held up is weird. Idk how in depth or how meticulous you are in cleaning up the bolts and inside the chamber, but that could be the issue. The ammo making the bolt stick or have trouble locking properly could be it. But then that'd be a heads pace issue wouldn't it?🤔 Not fitting correctly with ammo from Peru is odd, if that's the case. Another thing I've encountered is a VERY tight or.... I'd call it a tough depresser on the bolt. That button that you depress to take down the bolt, sometimes the spring on it is too hard or tight as I call it. Making it difficult to lock the bolt down completely. I had thus issue with a Turkish and 3 yugo mausers. Idk why for sure both guns had issues. That's definitely strange. I hope you figure it out. I'd love to know what it was!😄

If they did not change the barrels to 7.62, the bullet will not fully engage the rifling, making it inaccurate. The 30.06 is 7.62=.308/////7.65=.311. I doubt if they changed the barrels.

Great video as always, but what is going on with that 70a porn style background music? For those of us that listen to KZbin videos with earphones/ear buds, the music volume is a bit high and gets a bit annoying. Perhaps in the future try and pick something a little less intrusive to the ear. Just a suggestion.
