PES 2020 has some A.I. moments that make me crazy, one of those is your players not doing anything. They should adress this issue years ago, but still, it seems that when i’m running counter attack my player won’t try to find or open up some space, but just stand like an idiot waiting for me to slam into him

When you use tiki taka style it's all about how you are using you body orientation and ball control ! You have to think quickly and have 2 more actions in advance. If you just play tiki taka pass after pass without any idea of you whole action you will lose the ball each time. It's not a simple game it's a real science lol. Very interesting video Spoony. 👍🏿☺️

I play with maximum support range, it forces the opposition to move side to side, thus wearing them down overtime. Also i play a false 9 (messi) and central attacking build up to lure their players into the middle before through balling to the wingers who can either shoot or low cross.

I usually use 4-2-3-1 so you have many attacking options without making the wing back to attack (to avoid counters) and set the attacking options to counter attack instead of possession so the striker won't just stand there and instead create spaces but all the other settings I have it similar to yours. I have a lil different style but it works for me.

I've noticed that if you try and play a succession of passes the players control seems to get progressively worse the longer the sequence. I wonder if there is a built in deficit to the players control stats which increases depending on the number of passes in the move , the purpose being to prevent 25 pass moves or to prevent a player just passing it around at the back to waste time at the end of the match. A kind of built in a.I. progressive control error.

YES!! :) that is DEFINITELY in there dude. I noticed this a few iterations ago in PES lol. Happens in FIFA too... stops people just passing it around between players at the back when playing online.

I've also noticed the opposite happens when you switch from trying to get the ball forward quickly and slow down your play. The increased possession seems to settle the players' nerves.

@@SpoonyPizzas in FIFA that can be fixed by playing on manual passing and it becomes cheesy easy to pass forever... I beat a friend of mine at a tournament final we were doing by scoring at the 5th minute and passing for 85 minutes straight while he was being calmly frustrated until he just told me that was the most annoying game of his life at the end... I did have Barca which helps... but on FIFA passing is super easy... now in PES I wouldn't dare to play Manual cause it's so much harder than FIFA so I don't know what to tell you about that... PES is the better game for sure though that's why I play it now

Of course I'll leave my comment. Tiki-taka is a tactic that requires high skills on ball possession, but has the disadvantage of high containement. You need to maximize the support range with it, thus you have very little space to move and pass. So, if you play overplay to the play maker (that means tigh mark on the player that builds the whole gameplay), the team is broken in two and is very vulnerable to counters. That's how it broke Pep's tactics in every team the latter trained. On the other hand, ball possession is good for a team that is good with the ball down and works on connection with every other tactic you want, depending on what is the scenario of achieving the ball. It works better with medium- low support range and the ball down instead of trying high crosses for headers. Cheers to everyone and especially our wonderful host!

First touch pass is litle slow/weak..player reaction when receiving ball is dull and slow..he doesn't get excited.. And sometimes even if ball is free nearby him, he doesn't try to get ball unless i switch to him and try to get it.

Tiki Taka has to be combined with good tactics so it works. Thats why Pep's Tiki Taka works in any team while Sarri can't make it work at Juventus.. also, Being calm in possession, Using players' body position and finding the best possible pass is very very important.. also, there are a few "fixed" real life passing combos that should be played a lot of time. I can make Tiki Taka work in any team If I get to edit the tactics in my way...

Tiki Taka just means nearby players move closer to the player with the ball. It CAN work, but with a LOW support range it's very unlikely (as you can see in this video, even with high ball control/dribbling) as it'll pull players really close to the ball and with an opposition who plays middle containment - you're doomed :)

@@SpoonyPizzas Thats why Tiki-Taka and a Bit Higher support range (like 6 or 7 out of 10) is a really good Combo and if you love to play wider game with that, Its almost like you can have 65%+ possession every game. Formations should be 3-4-3, 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1, 4-4-2, 4-1-4-1 etc etc, Basically anything that has 2 wide players. And Wide Players' Roles are very important. It defines how well or efficiently you can Build up. Like In real life Pep uses Inverted wingbacks but also makes his winger come deep to collect the ball so you have your wingback as an option and also the winger who stays wider. And sometimes his wingbacks push forward and wingers tuck inside and CMs take positions as wingbacks so your CBs have CMs close option, Wingers in central spaces or the 'Pocket' space, and wingbacks as longball option. The organisation of players is important however you play..

Spoony Pizzas I play on superstar so can’t vouch for legend but the pass forward isn’t always the right one. This year it’s about waiting and not bombing forward. I even play on minus 1 game speed and 25 minute matches. Averaging 400 passes a match but I play better when taking my time.

Yea. I notice this straight away also... don’t need my players clumping up running toward each other. One thing- jy current manager/settings in my team won’t let me adjust attacking and defensive settings in game ...? Just frozen as the manager default settings. First touches in this game are tough. I love it. If you hammer a low pass at someone thy can’t control it, which makes weight of pass so much more important. First time playing pes in years and I love it, it’s silk

These formation instructions are the same as I usually use. possesion game, central, low support, frontline pressure, high defensive line, but i don’t use tiki-taka cause it makes all the players around the ball carrier, so it is difficult to counterattack. I prefer to use counter target on rwf & lwf and false 9 on CF

My friend who i play with plays forward for 15 years, i out play him all the time, he does beat me sometimes but when we play co-op the class is telling, i have to tell him to slow down because there's not always an option. But the difference shows when a player understand how important it is to play it backwards to go Forward.

Do you recommend high support range for ultimate formation? I use 5 support range which looks neutral. Sometimes it looks too far away too (but with counter attack style). But in your example it felt pretty okay with high support range. But that is Barca and different formation (and possession game). And I saw high defensive line with 5 compactness for that 4-3-3. I will use now the same for 4-1-4-1. :)

Hi mate, there's no formation that allows you to dominate without threat of counter. You could set deep defensive line and play 4 cbs. (E.g. no RB, lb)

Abdullah Hassan try and anticipate the play. If you see a dangerous counter you may need to take a yellow card and foul them to stop it. Obviously don’t do this on every play, but if you can keep the ball for most the game and occasionally get hit then just do this.

Ok, so question... I'm trying to play Possession football in my Arsenal Master League but my problem with possession is that even when there's a HUGE gap in the defense and I have freakin Aubameyang (which should be a free goal) they NEVER run to the hole... my problem is that in possession football offensive players play stupid and just wait around for the ball to come to them... in Counter Attack they run to the holes so easy and I can do my through passes and honestly with Counter Attack I have around 50-55% of possession anyway while scoring 3-4 goals through good ball movement... when I try possession my players make my life difficult cause they never do any good runs for me to pass to them unless I force it with a 1-2 with L1 or by using L1 and right analog which is such a pain... I admit that I was playing on a mid range support level but will putting the support to max level fix that or should I stick with counter attack style? Cause I like the possession style and I'm a good passer but it's so frustrating when your team stand around like idiots... and Arsenal isn't even a bad team... I mean possession or no possession, when the opposing CB have a 10m hole between them Aubameyang should run through (he's a goal poacher for god's sake...)

Problem with possession tactic and tiki taka is as you've noticed, players don't run into spaces which is frustrating cos in reality Barcelona's players always make runs into spaces. In reality it's actually a balance of maintaining possession when it matters and playing high risk passes into space. In the game I play a passing game and have possessions from 56-57% to 68%. But I don't use tiki taka nor possession tactic. I use counter attack, with a support range somewhere in the middle, . On the defensive side I use a high defensive line, somewhere in the middle and in games with attacking area wide, and for positioning I use flexible, because I want players to change positions. I also use hug the touchline and attacking full backs and gegenpress and in more difficult games I use wingback (this will make the wingers defend and track back). In easier matches I don't use wingback but I make my wingers mark the opposition's wingers, this makes them track back when the opposition manages to get through my pressing (but this tracking back will usually drain the wingers. Almost always have to change them in the last 15-20 minutes). Hope this helps.

The game pretty much forces you to play tiki-taka and possession based football, it's been like this for years and for me it's the biggest weakness of PES and why i stopped playing completely. The people at Konami clearly have an unrealistic vew of football. I don't find any joy in playing the same with any team... The AI is uncapable of defending against tiki taka unless it cheats, once you realize that the magic of the game disappears.

To be honest Barcelona sucks, Only Messi and Busquest touch are very good. But the way you playing is more about how you want them to touch.. Tiki Taka doesn't rely on Fast play you need to be calm and place the ball in space plus the recieving too also you have to be careful of on which leg that player is going to recieve. I guess it's also your fault.
