Is it just me or some of those animations look way smoother and most importantly livelier than in 2019 football games? Dayum, they *could* make hella games back when there were no DLCs and stuff.

Exactly, all these animations are handmade too. They didn't motion capture any of this and there seems to be more emotional animations off the ball too, players throwing their arms up, head in their hands when they miss, keeps moaning at defenders... The attitude towards developing games was different with the limited tech too. Devs really cared about the art and it was a labour of love. Nowadays it's a cold hearted corporate toy.

Gameplay so full of variety, graphics so, SO much better than the contemporary EA FIFA games - and very authentic stadiums! Now, to the actual results: 1. Rosenborg through on an away goal: disgustingly lucky. Dynamo Kiev were decidedly better in both legs. 2. Porto, having been dominated in both legs, don't deserve to progress either: Werder Bremen plain unlucky. 3. Juventus: just too good! Beautiful contest in the 2nd leg though. THAT Lyon side was the one that would dominate over Real Madrid in the group stages. 4. Barcelona: it's conceivable that that's exactly what would have happened in 2006. Very realistic. Especially Ronaldinho. Adriano was a TITAN for Inter at that time. Well reflected - but ultimately not enough. 5. Chelsea: well, against Villarreal... too much of a gap in class, really! Nuff said. 6. PSV: Judging by their 2004-2005 campaign, I have no doubt they would have eliminated Ajax. Competitive enough, but ultimately also very predictable. 7. Man Utd. of 2006 against Liverpool of 2006... The definition of "deniable plausibility". Never the less, with Liverpool chasing the game, this is perfectly realistic. Good spectacle, too! 8. AC Milan vs Arsenal in 2006, OMG!!! Controversy, class, power - and an invincible Italian giant in their Virtually impregnable home ground, the San Diego: the valley of tears for many ambitious and talented teams over the years... and again. Well, dear creator, I've been watching the UEFA Champions League since its inception, I remember virtually EVERYTHING of note - and I'll go right ahead and say - that was realistic AS FUCK! A great big thank you - from the bottom of my heart. Felt like the real thing! (BTW, I saw your video detailing the first leg clashes right before this - and in that context, this was just perfect!)

Great Episode, no big surprises, most of the teams showed their strong power game. Milan showed how strong they are in San Siro, great game and awesome distance shot and the header of Shevchenko. Big fault of Stekelenburg in the match Ajax - PSV, I hoped they would turn the game. Big saves from the Rosenborg keeper :O. Last german club are out with a 1:1 in the away game, what a shame :( In the end my childhood hero Ruud Van Nistelrooy is Top Scorer! RUUD RUUD RUUD RUUD :D. My predictions for the next round are: Porto, Barcelona, Chelsea, Manchester Best Player in this away legs: Rosenborg Keeper (big saves to keep them alive and proceed to the next round) Best Match: Milan - Arsenal Best Goal: Distance shot from Seedorf, I think it was him and the following header from Shevchenko to get the Goal. I'm loving this champions league format of you! Many greetings from Germany.
