Keep up the good work, Greg! People can't believe we don't have problems with flies and mosquitoes with farm animals and a pond, but I credit the pond for drawing in amphibians, dragonflies, birds,etc...that control the fly and mosquito population. @movinon12423 жыл бұрын
They stay close when there are a lot of flies. Being in close with other cattle leaves less surface area for the flies to alight upon. Also, for a cow, your neighbors' swishing tails can swish your back in areas you cannot reach with yours.

I agree completely with your wisdom about taxing cattle . Here in Ireland they are talking about reducing the number of animals in the national herd and then allowing imports of meat from Brazil where they are burning the Amazon Rainforest. It is easy for politicians to put the blame for global warming on farmers as farmers are in the minority so less voters to upset. If farmers take the blame for global warming the rest of the population will not have to change their lifestyle

Good looking cows. Here in north eastern Maine it’s hard to find any livestock. You would think in a very rural area people would at least have chickens. Hardly any. A few have gardens with low value crops, but nothing that requires much labor. I guess everyone is just happy going to the big box store. The only people around here who take farming seriously are the Amish communities. Driving thru them gives you that happy, satisfying farm country feeling. Chickens, cows, horses (lots of those), real gardens, kids playing, you see people. Everyone else sits in their air conditioned homes. That’s why all farm labor is based on immigrant workers. The only thing people here do is go shopping and eating, smoke weed, watch TV and play computer games. Guess that was my own rant. People are getting real lazy. #MeToo lol.

I'm in the west MA Hilltowns, and seeing kids out doing something in the summer is a rare sight. I drove by a couple boys walking with fishing poles the other day and I acted like I was seeing a moose or an egret or something. I slowed right down and thought 'isn't that nice?' Our school has shut down. Most people just zoom for work, or zoom by at top speed to get to the county seat. I'm renting part of a farm and a dairy barn adjacent to my uncle's place, and the old timers were talking about the last tenant like he just trashed the place and packed up and left (with a bunch of their equipment) the other day, but it's been ten years. I think I'm the first to come to the neighborhood since.
