Something I love about communist songs is their meaning behind them. As you said, they made you feel like you matter and were focused on the little things in life that made people happy. They mentioned children laughing and how they didn’t want war but they would strike back if attacked. It gives a sense of community along with the amazing music. Songs from the US (while I do love the rhythm) they make you feel patriotic to the country as if the country made you who you are and that you should be willing to lay down your life for it. That isn’t necessarily a bad thing it’s just that they dont connect with you in the way that socialist songs do. Im American and capitalist btw Edit: Im still american just not capitalist anymore

That is, in the minds of those who believed in not just the communist ideology, but in the superiority of the east. The mentality of many, especially in countries with frequent rebellions and where less people were friendly towards the bloc, was kept quiet and unspoken in fear of imprisonment and/or death. In Poland (the obvious example), I’d say the majority of people were unsatisfied, but couldn’t do anything. They knew basically what was really going on but had no way of stopping it and were forced to watch as their country was occupied and integrated.

The joke would be historically incorrect if USSR didn't sign the pact and instead of fighting polish would help them. And no, USSR in the 1939 was NOT liberating Poland. Also, different political system doesnt mean that its different country. It doesn't matter if they are nazis, communist or democrat, they are still germans. There is difference between German people and German Reich I just mean it like this: joke is not historically incorect and is not blaming German people, but German Reich.

The pact is about sharing between the parties of spheres of interest in Eastern Europe in case of "territorial and political restructuring." What left the USSR convenient borders for war. Later, Churchill and Stalin signed The Percentages Agreement with the same terms. The USSR would never help Poland because Poland is the same aggressor. (Teschen conflict and prev war with USSR.) About liberating Poland. What about the territories of Western Ukraine and Belorussia? And what about Brest-Litovsk which the Germans captured and they had to give it cause of pact and after entering the army of the ussr?
