Okay, I just left a comment on how simple nature was comparing it to the artist color wheel, but I hadn't quite finished watching the entire video..okay then, I must give you tremendous Kudos for your research, because it really explains thoroughly everything about the genetics color theory in the DNA of budgies..great job..I have to watch it again and again. 🥰

I love this documentary. It amazes me! The color theory genetics are so juxtaposed to the artist color wheel..I know because I am an artist. So simple of course, yellow and blue make green..and in nature this with birds is possible. This video is so educational. Thank you so much for your research and bringing this to us. I enjoy all your videos on budgies. Please continue your work and bring more. .I will continue to watch and share.🥰

My parents had a big Avery with 50 or so budgies for over a decade. You should see some of the crazy colours that have come out of there. I just recently got a baby bird from there grey and yellow with a beautiful pink crest and red eyes. Very unique and just my luck he is the tamest bird I have ever had the joy of having. ❤

Hello. Budgies and canaries are 2 of my favorite birds. Great video! Question: If you breed a male american goldfinch with a female yellow canary, what will their offspring look like?
@nidohime62334 жыл бұрын
Are there compatible in the first place? By rule of thumb species from the same taxonomic genus can hybridise with each other.
@johndetorre83414 жыл бұрын
@@nidohime6233 Actually the cross was done before. It was between the American Goldfinch and green canary. There's a picture on the internet. One female turned to be a dull green color. The Red Siskin cock from Venezuela was crossed with a yellow canary hen and they produced the Red Factor canary. So, I know finches, canaries, siskins and serins are in the same family, Fringillidae. They don't necessarily have to be in the same genus to hybridize. Some offspring will be fertile, some will be infertile.

I liked the premise of this video, but found it over-simplified and somewhat lacking. i.e: Most of it is basically straightforward Mendelian Genetics (tall pea and dwarf pea). Additionally, because I was unaware of the 'Psittacine' gene, I would have appreciated a more sophisticated genotype parent pictogram to show it's interactions in tandem with the separate Melanin gene. i.e: Instead, your representations are just showing different alleles of a single gene only and not in combination with a second separate gene. Finally, I would have liked to see a demonstration of the phenotypical expression of the Violet Single and Double Factor gene in both the blue and green type budgerigars. I believe that would have been quite pretty.
