Le Shuttle is stress free for our dogs and our over-excited humans. It may cost a little more but we have the comfort of our own motorhome and pre made flask for 40 minutes so the tunnel remains our transport of choice for now. When it comes to Calmac Ferries in Scotland, it’s a different story. We love the Calmac experience 😃👍🏻

s'funny how quickly consumers forget how P&O treat its British workforce. I'll never use them and so shouldn't anyone else
@philipellis70392 ай бұрын
Not watched the video yet but seen P&O pet lounge and the word Stress which was my experience. At least in the one direction. Fine on a quiet day but no, never again in the school holidays.
@philipellis70392 ай бұрын
Enjoyed the video. On the way out our pet lounge was busy with bored children running around, couple of dogs off leads and generally noisy so our dog never settled. On the way back it was much better and our dog was fine 99% of the time. I think staying in our booth with things for him to focus on worked better than trying to access the toilet area as well. Very little sign of staff. So no ticket checking, cups and cans ran out very quickly (on the return my wife took some cups from a machine elsewhere on board which we also gave to a thirsty German couple ) and no polite reminders to put dogs on leads. On the way back we hadn’t eaten for hours (had planned to grab something whilst waiting for the ferry but they put us on an earlier one) so we had to go out separately to eat as there is no food provision in the pet lounge except for a vending machine with chocolates. Back to Eurotunnel in future for us.

I have to say personally the eurotunnel suits me and dog much better don’t think I could cope with the only x2 stairs on a ferry, amazing video Andrew saves me worrying about it 😊

We haven't had the courage to cross on the ferry here in B.C. Canada yet. This is interesting to us, and we might be ready for a crossing in the future with our toy poodle 🐩

Thanks Andrew, Dougal and Ted, great tips, if we ever take ourselves abroad with our pet dog and campervan, given your experience and other comments it will likely be Le Shuttle or Stena😄⛴️🐾🚐❤️

Thank you for this very interesting video.P&O take notice of this,we recently traveled this route and used the pet lounge ,which is lovely.( It was early morning and very quiet)The only things I would add is the areas should be clearly zoned for reactive/ nervous dogs and more gregarious types.People don’t work it out for themselves. No security on the way home so the odd souls did wander in. No kitkats were taken though. P&O are trying hard but need to sharpen up their act a bit. Back to to Chunnel for now.

Very informative, thank you Andrew. Only used Eurotunnel in the past as it seemed the simplest but now you have demystified ferry crossings with dogs! PS very sorry you got Covid, hope you get well soon!

Very useful Andrew, i crossed on Le Shuttle this year , but will use ferries next year. Wouldnt want to use P&O anyway after what thay did bto their staff, but its useful to see comparison of the facilities.👍🐶🐶

Thanks for that. It was a very timely and honest review. We've been thinking of Ferries to Hook of Holland for next year. I think Le Shuttle's pet reception process looks easier. The P&O Dog lounge looks well thought out, apart from that door! That P&O exit process looked horrendous. Think Stena wins the ferry battle for dogs. Still prefer le Shuttle. Can't beat being in your own vehicle with your dog. We might just put up with the horrors of the Antwerp ring.. 😊

Thank you, Andrew, for this very informative video. We always value your opinion and experience. As the crossing with the ferry PO Woll will be very stressful for Josy, we would prefer stennaline or dfds. Greetings from Frankfurt

Irish ferries now have pet lounges on that crossing.

@@andrewjditton One other bit of advice - one of our dogs (Jet) managed to get Kennel Cough in France - an the only place he was with other dogs was in the pet check in at Le Shuttle. Next time... we would add a Kennel Cough Jab to the list before travelling... Thanks Paul

Great video, thank you! Lovely and informative for everyone even comparing duty free prices, nice one!! Last year I had 2 bottles of Harris gin (nectar!) for christmas, not tried Tanqueray! Would you recommend?! Lovely video even with the rain! Ted is a cutie, so is Dougal! Nothing worse than queueing on narrow stairs on ferries! Very claustrophobic! Take care, hugs xxx 😘🥰🐶🐕

Good vids Andrew. My dog would have kicked off mightily during that P&O return to car nonsense. So that’s another reason not to use P&O. I’ll continue using Le Shuttle. It’s a bit more costly however that does keep out the riff raff 😉

I am thinking about getting a dog again next year and if I decide to visit France or Belgium with them i certainly wont choose Pand O as I shall be getting aslightly bigger dog, which I wouldnt fancy carrying down those stairs.

I wish there were more options for (skint) foot passengers who aim to cross the channel with a dog. Any recommendations in reply appreciated...
@dominator90082 ай бұрын
We were interested in your experience with the pet lounge, as had heard about it, from other travellers. However after seeing your vid. think we will stick to DFDS, and leave the dog in the car. Also still feel very strongly against using P&O after the way they treated their staff. Even if they are cheaper.

Why p & o andrew ! Surely a bit more money for your piece of mind and morals is worth it and because you've working in a customer facing business i would expect you to join the 800 that lost their jobs !!!!! Because you have a large audience your sending out the wrong message.

Because there is no other ferry operator to Dover offering a pet lounge and I won’t leave the dogs in the car.
