Ironic. I clicked on your video of a typical day in the Hebrides, because I am considering finding a bungalow on one of the islands. Then I find out, you have left for another trail. Funny how life sometimes gives us mirrors to see where we really need to be. I was the daughter of a piper, piobaireach player and teacher, and one of my greatest joys was Highland dancing before I began Scottish Country dancing and then Irish ceilidh dancing. (My family kept crossing the water for generation after generation to marry the other) or so it seems. I left the US to teach at a Waldorf school in Mexico , lived in a permaculture community , and have been for sixteen years. I now experience dry eye, (no rain for five months) and the eye doctor last fall told me with my genetic makeup, I would not have this health issue if I were still in the British Isles....thus, I am considering reversing what the first immigrant set in motion in 1805 when he left Mull after all the land holdings were gone, and the whole family followed in search of a better life. Your saga is just such a mirror to me, of the importance of the home fire, to know one's roots. All the eye drops in the world cannot take the Irish and Scottish blood away. Glad to read that you found your place after your wee walkabout. Happy Trails to you.

Is your car the rwd or awd version ? Im going to order the ioniq 5 for towing a 1550kg caravan. I wanted the AWD which disables its front motor above 15 mph unless you're going up an incline or accelerating quickly which causes the front motor to reactivate. Im worried towing will cause the front motor to be permanently active and create an extremely low range

Hi Andrew, your videos are consistently incredibly informative. We actually spoke a couple of years back at the NEC autumn show about towing with EVs. Since then, I've made the leap. I parted ways with my Pegasus Brindisi for a smaller, lighter, all-electric caravan, opting for the Beachy 420. This move rendered my diesel 4x4 unnecessary. I chose the Tesla Model 3 RWD for its LFP battery, which with tow-bar and Tesla deals last autumn made it considerably more affordable, but lower towing weight. The decision to go with the Model 3 was driven by three main factors: 1) the LFP battery, 2) the extensive Tesla charging network (after experiencing queues at charge stops with my previous EV, an IONIC 28kW), and 3) the exceptional software. Regarding the tow-bar setup on the Model 3, it's virtually identical and yes, I found myself on the floor during the set-up too. One word of caution: the manual I have advises removing the locking red key rather than leaving it in. On our first outing this Easter, we faced strong winds, sub-zero temperatures and even snow. Despite the challenging conditions, we managed to achieve 2.03 miles per kWh. During our second outing this May bank holiday, taking the scenic route, we achieved 2.4 miles per kWh. Looking forward to your next video Wendy 👍

My brand new xplore 304 is 2 years old and has the exact same faults. The basin tap stopped working and the front top right corner of my window has broken off too. Don't use a towing cover. Mmmm. Coincidence or poor design.

In the middle of our full Brexit Allowance European tour and saw this morning that my big front window is cracked in the same place as yours. A bit of Googling on some forums suggests that the crack may be due to indadequate space between the window and the top hinge causing stress. Given the cosmetic nature of this damge and the huge cost of repair I have decided to live with it. Did you get yours fixed in the end or are you just still living with it?

I recall crossing on the Isle of Innishmore from Rosslare , Ireland to Pembroke Dock in Wales in January 2011 in a storm force 10. The sea state was horrendous and the ship should never have sailed. Terrified screaming passengers, crashing plates were an accompaniment to rogue waves crashing into the side of the ship. I honestly believed we would never make it. As you can see, we did, but I have never travelled that route again.

In my opinion a 125cc makes no sense if you have the licence to ride a more powerfull bike. A 250cc costs not much more than a 125cc and the 125cc reaches its limit far earlyer even in normal comuting traffic.

Yep great product . However any type of stove or cooking appliances that blacken cookware and hands is a no no for me. As if camping or just outdoors water is a short commodity and black hands from pots drives me mad. Gas or spirit stoves for me. Cheers from old George ❤ to wooofas

Hi Mr. Ditton, thank you for your video. I had my first towing experience and yes you are right so smooth. I ran into a problem with the trailer lights drastically reducing my range. Are you familiar with this issue? Is there a solution? I have an Ioniq 5. Thank you again.

If as you said,this barefoot was already sold I’d be really annoyed at someone banging the door against the van a few times to show the lack of a door latch.😡

Why would you only fill up to 80 odd percent? I wouldn’t dream of filling up with 80% when I’m driving to Cornwall from Nottingham 🤔 It takes long enough to drive to Penzance in the summer without faffing about.

Hi Andrew regards the towing cover would the use of awning rail stops halt the downwards drift of your front towing protection. It could be a cheap solution to your problem.

This is my own personal opinion on the ferries as a very regular traveler into Europe; DFDS - Their customer service at a start is very friendly, approachable and nothing is ever too much. They occasionally offer a free meal coupon, unfortunately you can be caught in a big queue if you do not get there early. The food is always really good, I remember they did a lemon and thyme chicken for a while and that was and still remains my best meal to this day. DFDS ships are modern, maintained and you'll board a clean ship. In terms of cost I think they are cheaper, sometimes they do cost more but I feel they are a lot more punctual and perform better. P&O - This is the ferry company I use when crossing on foot. For years you would be welcomed by a local worker and you would experience a nice dose of Southern hospitality on board and their customer services was top tier. I sailed on my birthday one year and they gave me a special announcement and an upgrade! Perhaps sailing with them 28 times in one year made for that. With the layoffs I swerved them for a while but I opted to return as a customer, after all they never let me down so why not? The staff on the French side are very friendly and I turned up 4 days late to my ferry back to Dover and they were like "yeah whatever, jump on the next one" However, the service on board has dropped dramatically - You can no longer have a nice, hot meal like on DFDS, they closed the brasserie and club lounge has almost doubled in price for, yeah more peace and space but for low quality food. As a foot passenger I would be the first on board and I would see the state of the ship. Coffee cups here, there and everywhere, floor covered in crumbs and rubbish, sticky tables, deck space a mess and staff just standing around. I have noticed this on my last few crossings. Personally P&O have gone downhill in terms of standards and I feel my money is better spent on DFDS. Irish Ferries - From Dover I can not comment as I haven't sailed with them I really miss MyFerryLink, they topped them all.

Thats a childish comment about heaters and awnings, I am all for EV's and I think they are great and I would have one in a heartbeat, But just because someone drives an EV does not entitle them to Special Treatment or Certain Rights of Passage, And if someone wants to heat their Awning that's up to them, You have said many times that you don't have an EV agenda But you Do, Your comments in pt 3 and now here in pt 4 make it very clear, knocking your Nissan's fuel economy, It's a Truck it was never ment to sip the tears of butterflies, My diesel does 64+mpg and towing does 45 to 52mpg, It's not perfect but it is a leasted polluting model on the market in it's class, You have taken all the enjoyment out of your channel with your constant knocking agenda, I get it, You love your EV and So do I, You have to recharge every couple of hours or every day, I can fill up at the start of the trip and refuel to come home again 600 miles later or more if solo. You have ruined your own channel with this constant EV agenda, I suggest you watch some of your old video's and see how much fun they were, it was fun while it lasted.

Since Erwin Hymer have taken over Elddis group have they rectified cracking panels on the Xplore range because i had a brand new Explore 5 yrs ago and apart from water ingress around the front window after 3 yrs the rear panels started cracking of which Eldiss weren't interested consequently i got rid
@estud474921 күн бұрын
I assume you mean elddis haven't rectified your panel cracking? - If so, I absolutely agree. We have 10 cracks +water ingress on our Xplore 304 but elddis is not interested (would cost us £9000 to repair!!). We had the front window ingress problem at 4 yrs old too - that was corrected. Elddis reneges on their major cracking faults; all I can say "it's dreadful treatment of customers." Elddis is under financial strain, maybe disgruntled customers are not coming back for more of the same!
@philipvayro629321 күн бұрын
Hi we sold the rot box on we were treated terribly by Eldiss..hymer and I wouldn't touch a Eldiss caravan with a barge pole sorry to hear about your problem it's heartbreaking when you spend all that money and get treated like yourself. Can't blv watchdog on the TV have never got involved.
@estud474921 күн бұрын
@@philipvayro6293 Hi totally agree- Yes, it;s an absolute scandal -we've been equally badly treated as you. I think the word has finally got out to new customers. Elddis lost £4.5m last year; dealers are shunning elddis vans because customers are voting with their feet. About time too!!
