The PC Part Snobbishness is so relatable, I own a Quest (standalone) but I’ve had so many people make fun of me for not having a PC and being limited with what the Quest can do and it gets pretty annoying

Not reading bio when you add someone. I don't mean like "Oh how dare you not read the entire bio", I mean if the first line says "DNI xyz", and you fall into xyz and add them anyways. The person has that in their bio for a reason, could be past trauma, could be personal preference, could be anything; but seeing that and then choosing to ignore it really irks me.

@@pipebombpete.6861 bad habit imo. you can learn a TON about someone just from their bio, no matter how long or short. Suppose there's an 18+ event in VRC- If someone has their age in their bio, it can help identify and distinguish them. Suppose someone that you meet seems super cool, but their bio has some problematic things in it that show their true colors. Then you know not to hang out with them. If someone is constantly on mute, they may have information in their bio regarding why they might always be on mute. Maybe some rando in a server has some information in their bio about a fandom that you're a part of. It could strike a very meaningful and fun conversation between the two of you, and could lead to a super long lasting friendship. I could go on for a long while with many many examples. Point is, it's always a good idea to learn more about the people you interact with.

2:46 ME over here with a pc with parts from 2016 to 2017 running at 50 FPS with no problems, I guess old PC'S are just built different....

I think it's a weird backend thing but I agree. I know people with 1080 TI cards that have less problems than folks with a 20 or lower 30 series. My best guess is that ray tracing takes a chunk that there's not a toggle for.

At least in America, speeding tickets aren't crimes unless it's a "super speeder" ticket. Just like 5mph over or whatever is just a civil matter. You're breaking the law yes but that isn't technically a crime unless it's a penal code you broke. The law in America is messy like that.

When I saw "Herding cats through portal" I was expecting the opposite where if anyone drops a portal, a random person goes around yelling at people to join the portal. I get that sometimes they are trying to prevent the problem that was shown in this video, but sometimes not everyone in the instance needs to follow the herd (especially if people are swapping instances every few minutes and some people are having a good conversation). That said, if you say you're going to join the next world, just do that, otherwise just tell the person you're not joining (I know it's annoying because of the inevitable response of "but whyyyy nooooot?") I always avoid being the PC snob thing, but it's really hard to. I don't talk about specs, but I often forget quest users literally have a separate world for them that's more optimized most of the time. Also I generally have one of the faster PCs because I wanted my computer to last a while, and I wanted VR to effect me as strongly as possible so I could get over my anxiety (which worked because of controlled exposure therapy). When I'm in VR in an optimized world, I can get 90-120ish frames, which is when my brain treats VR as real life (despite everything looking cartoony), and I can get phantom sense. If it gets too far under 90 FPS, my brain stops getting tricked, so I feel really bad for anyone that constantly is running at 10 fps since they aren't getting the full experience. One day everyone will have good VR... one day. I usually stick to quest worlds and avatars so I have the best frames as possible, and so my quest friends are able to join. When quest was newer and I was seeing a lot of new people, it shocked me the amount of people that said that I'm not shoving into their face that I'm a PC user (and in a few cases when they finally check to see if I'm PC or not they are surprised). Made me wonder if the PC snobbishness was really that common. I haven't seen it recently because I'm generally with a bunch of close friends that are pretty chill. I always forget how much of the wild west it can be in public worlds.

The whole point of PC is that you can build to what ever budget you have. That means people can get in the door for pretty cheap as long as they are willing to put up with sub par performance in more demanding games/use cases. Especially with the indi market being so amazing right now, even a potato PC can provide thousands of hours of amazing game play. Anyone who makes fun of others for not being above a certain graphics setting or frame rate is just making fun of people for making due with what they can get.

Don't know if anyone ever mentioned this ( I'm pretty sure plenty of people had this happen before) Someone literally asking people if they know how to do something, teach them, but then actively not wanting to put in the effort to actually learn the things they literally had asked countless times. Then, continue saying that they want to do it for X reasons. This has happened to me a degree that i started to avoid them, i was too nice to say it to their faces, but I really wanted to say something like "are you here to try to learn it or are you wasting my time? Because your actions are literally telling me what i going to do next, and that's me, wanting to just up and leave because I'm talking to a brick wall at this point."

My ex did this all the time! She asked me how to make VRC avatars, and I opened unity to show her the first basic steps and she told me to stop and that it was already too much work. She asked me how I get robux for free from Microsoft, and I showed her the points system that Microsoft offers if you use the Bing search engine. Once you make enough searches and earn enough points, then you can redeem them for a robux redemption code. She said THAT was too much work, and REFUSED to do it even when I showed her how easy it was. She even asked me, the very tech savvy lesbian, how to do some simple things on her laptop. I showed her how, and she REFUSED to do any of it! It really started to get on my nerves. Glad we're separated now tho! :3

I loved when they slowly approached like a menace it made me laugh a good bit but right when i heard "Other people at risk" i leaned backwards and went "AAAAGGGGHHHHH....." its crazy to me people are actually like this it's kinda why i tend to just never really get out of my shell and able to just make friends i get so afraid of people like that and i really would like to be around people that just know how to laugh things off and have fun i don't like uptight... XD!!!

pushy, unwanted advice about optimising this or that, when you have a slow PC, or issues with your internet connection. some folks get mortally upset, when you dont wanna spend the rest of the evening discussing that you're on a low connection, and trying any unhelpful suggestion they throw at you.

2:49 that's...the exact CPU I used to have. With VRC at the time I had other issues though, I doubt that was the fault of the CPU (every 2-3 worlds opened, it would crash. Without fail. And this was even with the GE versions of Proton to try and make it better).

I definitely also dislike PC part snobbishness (or tech snobbishness in general). Talking down to people because they don't have as good of tech as you just makes you seem like a crappy person, in my opinion. I actually built a pretty decently high end PC last year and don't like mentioning it much in fear that I might come off like I'm bragging when I'm not.

My pet peeve....Avatar Snobs that hate "very poor" avatars because they want to only have avatars that are "optimized." Meaning, they want no hair/ear/anything physics and to have like only 3 shades of coloring. 99% of the best avatars in vrc are listed as "Very Poor"

I know a lot of people on the PC snob/why bother making a Quest version, we have imposters now. I don't get it. Granted my avatars are relatively simple, the only measurable time is the initial platform conversion in Unity and the rest is change this shader to this, click okay and call it good. I have to adjust my physbone stuff a little so Quest users cannot grab my boneless ones which is a little sad. It isn't my business to ruin someone else's fun because they cannot randomly drop 3 grand on a PC. I've better things to do than be offended if someone doesn't show my avatar because it's 'very poor' on Quest. Someday I'll understand that ranking system but that day is not today.

I wholeheartedly agree. People complain SO much about making quest versions of their avatars, which maybe I could understand if it's a high poly e-boy with poiyomi shaders galore and 20+ rotation constraints. But if all you do is make custom textures for pre-made avatars and add some gadgets onto them, it is NOT that difficult. When I used to be a questie a long while ago, it would irk me when a PC player's avatar was PC only, and I didn't get to see it. There's ALWAYS a way to make things quest compatible. Even if that means stripping away some of the contents of the avatar, it's much better to have the bare-bones model with a texture on it and nothing else, than to simply leave the questies with a VRC robot.

Regarding the last one about "gatekeeping", I think that can be severely misunderstood. I wouldn't even consider that behavior as gatekeeping, but rather ridiculing for not having the same standards. Gatekeeping is generally a good thing. For example, if you're a furry convention who wants to be family friendly, you "gatekeep" it by not allowing 18+ content at the convention. If your favorite hobby has people that serve as bad influences, you gatekeep it by scolding them or (in very extreme circumstances) blocking their entry. Where gatekeeping becomes a problem is when it keeps out things that are good (or even neutral) and welcomes in things that are bad. Fur Affinity is an excellent example of this: The website actively restricts people with conservative beliefs, but people who publicly show off repulsive fetishes and give the furry hobby a bad name are allowed to roam free and pollute otherwise innocent search results (because FA still can't be bothered to filter anything).

Quest users not having the same benefits as PC users. And the sdk being limiting in what i wanna do on quest even after hours of optimizing, eventually i dropped the sdk and dropped vrc because of that and i feel way better Another pet peeve, Everyone being on orange at all times. Like im sure you want privacy but every day? damn. ANOTHER pet peeve: Maps being unoptimized and the creator not doing anything about it. Like in quest i barely reach 25 to 30 fps, specially with my shit pc with a not so great cpu and gpu.
