***** all you have to do is buy a baby rat then take him to a vet right away to get blood work done and that will reassure her. blood work will tell you if your rat has any diseases and if they do have something then the vet will put him on an antibiotic to be sure so there is always a way around that.

Haha! Never seen rats fight over food like that before. Rats usually like to share, from my experiences. They must have been loving that egg. XD Something tells me that, if those rats had voices, they'd have all been screaming, "MINE! IT'S MINE, I TELL YOU!" XD

In my experience, rats like to share a bowl or pile of food just fine; they don't try to steal pieces from each other when they can just grab their own piece. _Buuut_ when you give them one big honkin' piece of food, they absolutely will play tug of war or try to hoard it from each other. It was always hilarious watching my rats try to hoard a chicken drumstick or an ear of corn that weighed as much as they did.

I used to give my rats a whole walnut every now and then. All four would fight for it and get bored after a while, but only one was motivated enough and always managed to crack it open. So fun to watch!

Yeah, for some reason, when we gave our rats a hard-boiled egg, they couldn't figure it out, either. I've given them easy toys, like treats rolled up in newspaper, but the egg stumped 'em. It's so cute- they're like "I know this is food! So WHY CAN'T I EAT IT?"

It's really interesting how they never really fight over the food either. Sure there was some claiming, but no real fights. But I had pet mice, who were really territorial.

I gave my two rattie boys a hard boiled egg. They tried so hard, but they just couldn't break it. I finally cracked it for them, and once they tasted that egg, there was no stopping them!!

Two of your rats look like near-twins of two of my girls (RIP). I miss having rats, sooooo bad. I used to give mine corn on the cob after I'd eaten it. There was still tons of food left from the rats' perspective, and they would drag it all over the cage trying (and failing) to stash it.

I had a cage similar to this one when I had 2 rats. It cost about 120, that's including tax and bowls. They are a pain in the rear to clean though. or was for me anyway. My rattie has a small cage he spends very little time in. He's potty trained and when he doesn't use it, I clean up after him. I love him so much! (So does my cat) :)

Awww....sweet mob of ratties.The egg(s) were appreciated by all,even though they had the infamous " mine-itis". I miss my ratties (8) so much and the grey Rex rat reminds me of my beloved Eden, though she was white. My ratties loved eggs too but I took the shells off first. Eden passed away 4yrs ago but not before she became a grandmother and her boyfriend Rascal died a month later from a broken heart.I lost the other rattis when I became homeless .I hope they all found loving homes but I know that nobody loved them all as much as I did.

Cutee :) Oh no! they have rattly chests :( That is called Mycoplasma in rats and is mostly easily treated with something called vibravet which is a brown paste you can get from the vets :) Sometimes a liquid is needed too.
