Desde sus inicios, los Pet Shop Boys siempre quisieron ser un grupo pop de canciones políticas (Opportunities, Violence, In the night, Shopping, My October symphony); pero no es hasta el álbum "Fundamental" cuando encontramos verdaderamente un disco politizado que ataca toda la estupidez de nuestros gobernantes y de la sociedad que los apoya con sus votos (The Sodom and Gomorrah Show, Integral...). Con su inteligencia y su ironía, se echa de menos en su carrera algún disco más de este estilo.
