The rabbit tail thing reminded me of my childhood. I used to have parakeets as pets, and one day my ex-best friend was visiting, and along with her mom, her older sisters came to pick her up, and while our parents were talking, they thought it would be a good idea to pull on my parakeets feathers. I got really pissed off, and didn't let any of them near my birds again.

Back at my high school there was a teacher who had a hamster as a “class pet” and literally left it rolling around in a ball EVERY DAY. It honestly made me so sick. I was horrified for the poor thing 😥
@yuris.31672 жыл бұрын
Imagine having no water, no food, no sleep, just rolling in a torture ball all day, not being able to see anything and hoping to not hurt your own limbs in it. To think that someone invented this crap and it's still sold in pet stores tells a lot about how people treat pets like objects.

My teacher a few years ago had a class pet hamster. Because she couldn't sleep with her wheel going, she let me keep the hammer over he summer, so I looked up "hamster care" on youtube and found Victoria's channel. At the end of the summer, I wrote a 6 page handwritten guide to proper hamster care because she was doing a lot of things wrong. A year later, I wrote an updated one in Google docs and my sister printed them out and now my local animal shelter has hamster care guides. Moral of the story: if you give a child a class pet they will latch onto that species and obsess over it for years. This started out as another story about class pets and then it just got really long.

Hi! I’m a vet tech and I wanted to share with you that we do ultrasounds ALL the time on animals for medical purposes other than pregnancy. I completely agree with you, doing an ultrasound on a hamster is completely unnecessary unless it’s needed for a medical problem. I rescued a hybrid dwarf hamster and about 2 weeks later she stopped eating and drinking. I took her to work and my vet/boss confirmed via ultrasound that she had a mass in her abdomen. The mass was so small and deep that it couldn’t be seen by just looking at her. Sadly, we ended up putting her to sleep because she was already not eating or drinking, and the mass would’ve only gotten worse. But we wouldn’t have been able to confirm it without the ultrasound. Anyway, I just wanted to share that knowledge with you in case you didn’t know!

Oh my gosh I have literally been watching all of the past tik tok reactions a lot this week so this made me sooo glad that you made another. I love these videos! By the way, I was wondering people's opinions on munchie's place. She had said that hamsters don't need a sand bath and that the minimum bedding depth was three inches. Don't get me wrong, I love her rescue and all that, but I was just wondering what everyone else thought.
@rainbowhamham272 жыл бұрын
I do appreciate her rescue and the good work they do by rescuing hamsters in even worse situations, but I really do not agree with her minimums. I think hamsters should at the very, very least have 0.5 m²/800 in² of floorspace and 30 cm/12 inches of bedding, plus of course a sandbath for every species of hamster, not just dwarfs and her hamsters usually don't get to have even that. I do still watch some of her videos (cage reviews and rescue intakes), but I just wish she would have some higher standards than the US minimum of 450 in² sometimes. A moment I remember seeing recently in one of her tiny tales cage reviews (the racecar, I think?) is her questioning if a single male mouse could still live in there, and I just paused for a second to go WTF that she was even considering that (she did ask the viewers, said she wasn't a mouse expert and she hearted a comment telling her that was definitely not enough for a mouse, so I know she read it, but that just stands out to me right now). In conclusion I definitely do not think she is a terrible person, just that she could maybe consider updating some minimums. I would be very interested to hear what Victoria Rachel thinks about her, I've been pretty conflicted about her for a while!

She has said a lot of times that running a rescue where supplies need to be spread out for tons of animals is a lot different than having a pet, that’s why she goes by bare minimums, so she she can help more animals and still provide for the ones already in her care

Here in England, my family house rabbits and guinea pigs outside. But we fetch them in during the really cold wintery nights/days but because we get a mixture of hot and cold. Most of the time when it's not cold outside they stay outside in their big hutch and run. We lock them up during the night (in their hutch), but we have a complete wiremesh run that takes up the whole end of our long garden and they get let out at 7am until it just about gets dark. We used to house them together until we found out that their diets are actually somewhat different. They've always got along but we know they shouldn't so we keep them separated now.

Do you have any tips for setting up a hamster enclosure (i.e. what items you'd consider a 'must have' besides the basics)? I'm currently saving up for an IKEA Pax enclosure which I'm very excited for, but I'm totally clueless when it comes to planning out how I want the enclosure to look when it's fully set up lol. I'm using a 'rule of three' method, which means sectioning the enclosure off into rows of small squares that make up 10% of the floorspace (in my mind, not phyiscally sectioning it off lol) and ensuring that there's at least 3 enrichment items per square, but I'm totally clueless otherwise. Any advice is really appreciated lol.

Hello! I really admire your work and how you are trying to teach everyone about proper hamster care, it’s really admirable! I hope you don’t mind me suggesting this, but I think it would be really interesting if you did a video about hamster videos on Instagram, there are a lot of videos of hamsters in small closed cages and it’s heartbreaking.

I never wake my hamster up on purpose. But sometimes I have to clean her sand before I go to school and that wakes her up. She always goes back to sleep tho

In my opinion, most people on tik tok are irresponsible. Except you tori, you try to spread the right care! Good video! Also yesterday I went to my pet store and they had this huge bag of millet sprays on clearance!! I made sure everything was good and the little millet balls are huge, my hamster loves it :D! Hows the hamster rabbits and cats?

Victoria reachel I really need your help my hamster keeps on chewing things in his cage, and I dont know what to do. He has a large cage, and I mean I could take him to the vet but what would the vet do?!?! I mean he has no teeth cause he keeps chewing, he has no top incisors but his bottom ones are perfect, I need help! Thank you.❤

How large exactly? What is the enrichment he has?
@nataliamichalik82 жыл бұрын
@@VictoriaRaechel he has about a 800 sq inch cage, he has a 9 inch wheel because he is a relatively small Syrian. He has plenty of toys and enrichment like for example willow sticks many platforms and hides he has a sand bath and many homemade toys. He has some toys from the store but most of them are hand crafted I guess. I take him out somtimes if he wants to, maybe he needs a bigger cage? Just at this time it's a bit at the wrong time, and I may not be able too. Thank you so much!

The lint roller hack is ok! Most of the hair that comes off is loose fur that will shed very soon

Sure you can have a hamster safe room or a dry bath tub be sure they don’t go near the drain.
