Ngajat Iban is one of the folk dance heritage by the Iban tribes which also represents the community of Iban in the state of Sarawak. The Ngajat dance is believed to have been performed by warriors on their return from battles and a welcome danced will be performed by the wives and maiden. Now, this dance generally will be performed during the harvest festival, Gawai celebration, to welcome honored guests to the longhouses, and also performed as an entertainment to the public. The meaning of “Ngajat” or “Ajat” is dance meanwhile “Iban” stands for the community which is Iban people.
