But nobody tells you this. I recently got a cat, who is very affectionate but also has anxiety. She’ll be snuggling with me hear a sound or see a sudden movement and then go bananas. NO-ONE, not a single one of the cat guides I read mentioned a thing about how to not irritate a cat. I hate this mentality of “oh these people deserve it, of course a cat would do that.” When there is so little education and awareness out there on how to prevent this from happening. Like it’s just common sense, it’s not. A lot of people take it for granted that someone either educated them or they learned at a young age.

I was thinking the same thing. Any one of those "swipes" could have taken out an eye. I'd rather have a dog attack me than a cat. As a teenager back in the sixties I had these two brothers I was friends with. They also had a sister who I briefly dated. Although she was hot I ignored her because I was friends with her brothers, but she kept coming on to me so I gave in briefly with her brothers blessings and they said no matter how it turned out we would still be friends. She wanted me to take her to her senior prom and I did. I think she just wanted to show me off to her girlfriends. Her whole family wasn't hard to look at and neither was I. Our "relationship" lasted a few months and then she moved on with my blessings. Well anyways they always had a cat around the house as well as her pussy. One time they had this one cat that I can tell didn't like me and kept staring at me and trying to decide whether or not it wanted to attack me. It would even position itself from places where it could leap at me and always looked like it was ready to jump on me. I told the guys that if they didn't get that cat out of the room, I was leaving. They thought it was funny and that I was kidding. I wasn't, and got up to leave. They stopped me and put the cat in one of their bedrooms and closed the door. Eventually they got rid of the cat because other guest also complained about it.

@@im1who84u No you wouldn't. Dog jaws are much stronger per square inch. Cats bite down until they can't anymore. Like a puncture. You have clean it immediately to avoid infection. Dogs bite and tear. I saw my cousin when I was 10 and she was 12 get bit in the face by a dog. 36 stitches, 6 surgeries and facial sandings.

As a grown man, I'll still take my chances with a dog. I understand them better than cats. Aggressively scream as loud as I can, shout common commands to them with a loud and adhortative voice telling them to sit, stop, go lay down..., make myself look big and lunge towards them, grab their two front legs and pull them down hard, grab their ears and pull them off if you have to, kick, bite, punch, screaming as loud as you can (in their ear if possible), crush them with your body weight, and I usually carry a pocket knife, pepper spray, and a firearm with me anyway. I am former law enforcement and it's just a habit. Here's a true story. As an older teenager back in the late sixties, my friends and I went to a junk yard to pick up some cheap car parts. In this junk yard was a chained up German Shepard that kept viciously barking at us as we tried to talk business with the guy running the place. If that dog wasn't chained, he was ready to put us on his dinner menu. Then my friend finally got tired of hearing this very vicious aggressive dog barking and pulling at his chain to try and get at us.... and he yells very loudly at the dog to go lie down. The dog stopped barking and looked at him kinda puzzled. Then my friend yells at the dog again and strongly points to him, walks a few steps in the dog's direction and tells him again to go lie down, you heard me, go lie down..... and the dog very sheepishly goes and lies down! The owner got a little embarrassed when this happened. The rest of us snickered.

@@im1who84u Thank you for sharing that. I was standing right next to her. It was my uncle's Visla. He just completely unprovoked jumped up and bit her in the face. Ripped her mouth open. It didn't make either of us fear dogs. But that dog should have been put down. He later bit my grandmother. My first cat I got as a really young kitten that was way to young to be taken from her mother and was aggressive, Maybe even played with too roughly. I got bit many times in 18 years.

Fun fact: Staring / glaring at cats give them a sign of hostility, thus if they feel threatened they’ll attack. Instead, look at them with softer eyes. Blink at least once or twice gently as these are signs of affection. They’ll return you with a blink if they trust and like you enough. 😸

@@leechjim8023 nah not really. There’s no “luck” in owning a cat. If you respect the cat, and show that you’re trustworthy, then it’ll show love back. I live with siblings who love to just be all over our cats personal space, and the poor thing runs away from them. I make sure to give my cat space and love, and just looking at him causes him to run over to me for head pats. They need to feel safe with you to know they can let their guard down. Cats are very independent anyway.

I even remembered my 1st 2 cats were always forgave me. My 2nd cat was my cat for number of years. I even gave the cat belly rubs on my belly while watching TV with my parents. He did stayed over a hour in that position. He was a the most sweetest cat ever. He even had a gentle soul. I was so lucky to had a special friend.

I have 2 cats, one has been with me since kitten, and walks on a leash without issues whenever I take her for a walk. My other cat has been abused before I got him. He sometimes will bite or swipe at me for no reason. But I don't get mad, he just reacts to what he remembers. It took a while, but Now he sleeps on my bed, cuddles with me, and follows me everywhere. Occasionally he still bites but I just take my hand away and he looks at me as if he is sorry. He just has ptsd, but is my buddy nonetheless. He just needed a good home.

I weened my calico/siamese kitten with a bottle. Her eyes first opened up and saw me. Ever since that day I was apparently her mom. She followed me around like a puppy and would lay by the door all day, waiting for me. I could kiss her nose and pet her belly and she never bit or scratched me. She was the chillest cat I’ve ever known in 60 years. You show them love & respect they’ll do the same. Spoof on a cat and they’ll remember it for life and get you back.

I had a cat, he was a killer - killed every mouse, rabbit, bird on my property. Blinded a neighbor's bulldog who attacked him. Gus was a big cat. I raised him from the age of two weeks. When he was a kitten he took a swat at me. I backhanded him so hard he flew 20 feet across the living room. I never had to hit him again. All I had to do was raise my hand and he corrected his behavior immediately. I loved my cat, but I took zero shit from him. If he had ever swatted my kid - as some of the cats did in this video - he would be lucky to escape with his life. Never let a domestic animal dominate you.

Pro tip, because this is where so many people mess up and this is the problem in a good chunk of these videos. Don't. Stare. The. Cat. Directly. In. The. Eyes. Eye contact that doesn't break is threatening and signals a fight to them. If you're going to look at your cat blink slowly or wink. Also picking up your cat, I don't pick my cats up unless I have to. If my cats want to be picked up they come and ask to be picked up. I let them come to me for affection. I support their bodies so they feel secure. Finally be aware of vocalizations and tail movements, I never touch a cat that sounds or looks like it's threatening me. You might think it's cute until you walk away with a third nostril because your cat came at you claws out and hooked you on the nose.

I love this. I was a certified "dog guy" when I moved in with some friends of mine during college. She liked me in our first meeting but she had this "love me from a distance and let ME come to you" mentality lol. I literally could not pick her up and hold her on my own accord. If she wanted snuggles she would initiate contact. I enjoyed being around her for a couple of years before moving elsewhere. Good times with her years ago are a great memory ❤️ 😁
