Close fight. I originally felt like it was close, with Petch potentially winning out (I was bummed since I was rooting for Tawanchai), then the decision surprised me. However, after rewatching it, and then brushing up on my thai scoring conventions, I understand why Tawanchai won. Still close fight though, as a viewer I wish the fighters had taken more risks so we could really know who could go the distance, but I understand that this is their livelihood, and injury prevention is part of the game (as well as not taking unnecessary risks and getting KOd).

@@unknownentity8256 hard to say what exactly the judges totaled on, and I am also not that familiar with ONE scoring nuances. On the rewatch I noticed that while Petch had way more sweeps, and more teeps, Tawanchai's teeps were much more de-stabilizing, and he landed more bomb punches. If Tawanchai had been a bit more aggressive on round 5 I think more viewers would understand the decision, but I guess even in round 5 he felt he had done enough (I also understand that in thailand muay thai first and last rounds are slower pace).

The calmness, the respect, the skill, I mean this should be the standard of martial arts.

Never understood why so few MMA fighters have this kind of discipline & skill.

I was routing for Tawanchai, but shocked they gave him the win. I’d definitely give him the 1st 2 rounds but the last 3 not so much.

If the decision were correct there would be no potetential for an immediate rematch, which would cost the company money. Petch "loses" so ONE can win.

Superb display of Muay Thai.

It's really too bad we may never see a rematch between these two. I really thought Petchmorakot had this on a split decision. At least if actual Muay Thai rules were used. One can only hope.

What’s the difference in rules?

@@Workd05 the fight will not end until someone loses consciousness ,i think tawamchai would lose if real Muay Thai rules are applied

quite the opposite. Actual rules score kicks more, Tawanchai landed a ton of them, seeing how they favor punches more then traditional rules in onefc im surprised they gave it to tawanchai

It's so dope watching them have the same type of stance and movement because they trained in the same type of martial arts.

Credit to both fighters. They each have bigger hearts than we mere mortals. But there was only one victor there - and it wasn't the guy who was given the belt.

Imagine what the other fighters pressure must've been like knowing Petchmorakot was the one to knock Saenchai down.
