"Red dot Watch it light up when I smoke a man. " That's a double. So many, it's just one I love

"Keys of the white on a major scale and I'ma nick 'em up sharp like an ebony note." ...Best line I've heard in years, and the rest of it isn't far behind. I've been into hiphop since Paid in Full and these guys are up there with the greats.

Just so I understand (because I'm not from that world): "Keys of the white" is kilos of cocaine (that's easy), but what's nick 'em up? Cutting it up? And why is that like an ebony note? I know I'm clueless, but I dig the flow and just wonder about the meaning.

@@KH-no7ph A lot of it is either older UK slang or Cockney rhyming slang, which fits with the 60s London gangster theme, but they mix it up with modern drill slang and themes. It gives them loads to work with. It’s the most refreshing thing I’ve heard in hiphop for ages. Blackalicious or J5 might be the last time I heard something that made me think, ‘Woah, what’s this?’ as much as these guys have. That was probably because it was so different to the gangster s*** of the time. Reggie Noble was another one. Everyone was rapping about guns and bling, and he was talking about how much of a waster he was. Are Pete and Bas novelty? I guess so, on a level, but how can you write it off when it’s as good as this?

@@robinarmitage1376 Thanks for the info, and I agree, they're too good to write off.

@@KH-no7ph That whole thing is a double with a piano scheme. His talking about jacking a coke dealer but using piano terms, so 'keys of white' the white keys on a piano, 'nick em up sharp' nicking someone is like your gripping them, getting a hold of them, cornering them, the sharp here means quickly, tidy, without a fuss but then he goes on to say 'like an ebony note', as in the black keys (also known as sharp notes) on a piano which are sometimes ebony (think of the song Ebony and Ivory). then take it back to the start of the verse he says he has a major scale, when writing music and playing a piano you can use Major and Minor scales but also scale as in weight as in drugs. And to wrap it all up, Baz used to teach piano (he said it once in a interview) so that whole scheme is mad.

@@KH-no7ph (why is that like an ebony note?) It's also a reference to playing a piano major scale. The black keys (sharps/flats) are traditionally made from ebony wood.
