A shame that people remember Pete for the 1 yard play but forget that he built the Legendary defense (300+ roster moves in 1 year) that destroyed a historic offense the year before.

That’s how I feel as a Pats fan I’ll always be great full for what Belichick has done for this franchise this area and for New England and Boston in general. Massive props to Pete and the way he handled it. I was tired of having a middling team that just couldn't get over the hump and unfortunately, it had to do with Pete at least to some extent with the coordinators he brought in. I hope he doesn't end up coaching for another team and he stays in the area and helps John to keep building this thing up. At the same time, if he still has that itch, I get it. @Yuniverse7

From what’s been reported, which was right after Christmas, Tomlin is expected back next season and is already involved in making roster moves and looking for an OC and they’d like to extend his contract that currently runs through 2024. Steelers have that strong reputation for loyalty, even when it’s been detrimental at times(not saying that’s the case with Tomlin). I think they realize that making Tomlin a scapegoat really wouldn’t fix their issues and they really don’t lie with him.. and unlike the titans with Vrabel. Plus they’re in the playoffs despite all the problems they’re going through. Ofc that things can always change and it’s not been said officially.

No he wouldn't. That SB was nine years ago, it holds no bearing on anything today. It was just time to move on. Its been time. Pete should have been let go when they traded Russ, start fresh. Only the GM didn't have the power to do so and the owner stayed hands off. Well this time Jody Allen stepped in and did her job. The only mistake is keeping him in the building, never been a big fan of that. Look how Bruce Arians behaved in Tampa the year after he "stepped down". He was in the news more than players, it was a circus.

So, I looked at a sheet that showed the Seahawks cap space (1.2m) the players who are due big money and what the savings could be if cut pre-June 1st; How realistic is this scenario - the team cuts Diggs, Adams, Lockett, Dissly, (try to restructure) Geno's contract (or release him if he refuses), cut Okada, O'Connell, Whitaker, Bumphus, Morris, Thomas, sign Leonard Williams and Jarran Reed, keep an eye on the Justin Jefferson situation and potentially pursue him in FA and draft somebody (like Nix or Penix) giving that QB an arsenal of talent with Metcalf, JSN, Jefferson, Walker, Charbonnet.. I know the off-season is heartbreaking and these players I mentioned are more than adored and appreciated in Seattle, but if the Seahawks are legitimately in a new era - I honestly think this could really shake the NFC West (as well as) the NFC as a whole. That offense would be high octane and exciting to watch (depending which direction we go with coaches). As for defense, they have two 3rd round picks and a 4th they could address in the draft or see who is available in FA. I honestly feel like the Seahawks are a contender and are just missing a few pieces and feel like this could be what propels them to elite status.

Could you imagine the Seahawks hiring Jim Harbaugh, they would be handing him a contender. I think it would be spectacular! First thing on the list is a young Run and Gun quarterback durable, no Penix.

As a Seattle fan, this is a bad move, unless Seattle secretly has an All-Star candidate waiting in the wings. The defense has been bad for the last couple years and it seems like Pete does not like to fire coordinators. The current DC probably should never have been hired in the first place and he definitely should have been replaced by now. This season was a defensive disaster with some serious injuries on both sides of the ball. I do not understand the move or the timing. These are some really big shoes to fill and Pete Carroll is hands down the greatest coach in Seattle sports history, not just football.

If you don't understand this move then you don't understand football. Multiple coordinators and still a bottom 5 defense ever since the LOB disappeared. Offense was always the same, this is a GREAT move, losing Pete's leadership will suck, but losing his ability to not adapt to the modern NFL won't. I agree, he is the greatest HC in Seattle ever, he will probably be a 1st Ballot HOF when he retires, which IMO should be now

does the pete carroll situation let him collect his salary in seattle but still be able to walk away if he accepts a coaching offer? or would seattle block him?

People don’t realize Pete was President of football operations. He was Schneider’s boss. It’s always been like that. The chain of command was Allen Carroll then Schneider.

2:44 clearly did not watch/hear the entire presser. Clearly does not understand that Pete was the VP Ops OVER John Schneider... guessing is valuable as insight into the situation?!? Pete will be coaching elsewhere next year. Management tried to spin the firing as mutual to protect Pete and the org, but Pete is too honest.

If I was a team in the hunt for a head coach, I would be calling Bill and Pete to try and hire them as my head coach. Especially if I might have a team that might be ready to go (heres looking at you Chargers).

Pete moving at lightning speed is missing the finer points of the game. So he needs to slow his world down and pay attention to detail. Like your defense wasn't very good and your offense wasn't very good. Things like that. Jamal wasn't a good trade. Letting Ryan Neal go was not a good idea. etc.
@chaoticchaos894

Jamal Adam's trade wasn't on Pete thats on John Shnider 100% as the GM John is the one who makes all the roster moves, trades and such. And probably 75% of the draft is his picks based on his research and scouting. Pete's Job is to COACH and that's both the players. And the staff/other coaches under him who he also needs to coach up. He's only able to work with what he's given in that aspect. Though I'm sure his input and analysis and voice was definitely involved in all matters from trades to drafts and free agency but at the end of the day those decisions are done by John Shnider 🤷 And yes the Adam's trade was atrocious seeing how its played out and Adam's couldn't stay healthy if his ass lived in a unbreakable titanium bubble his whole life lmao. Dude would find a way to injure himself and become unavailable 75% of the season 💀💀💀 Adam's is legit talented. But if he's NEVER on the field then it completely nullifying that aspect. Because the best Ability is... you guessed it AVAILABILITY 🎉. Which Adam's is only good for 4 games a year lmao. But all the good draft picks. Free agency pick ups. Russell Wilson trade and Leonard Williams trade is from John who might actually be the best GM in the NFL to be completely honest 😅 if not that then a top 5 without a doubt. His draft classes on 2011, 2012, 2021, 2022 were all PHENOMENAL 💯🤯. Stacked with HOF players ane late round diamond in the roughs like Richard Sherman, Kam Chancellor, Golden Tate, Doug Baldwin, Tyler Lockett, Russell Wilson, Woolen, Mafe, Bobby Wagner and others who've played significant roles in our successful decade.

As far as letting Ryan Neal go that was fine. Especially when we brought in Julian Love as a replacement got pro bowl nominations this year and has been a BALLER especially the last couple weeks with the game sealing INT's and Pass Deflections he's made.
