I hardly know Pete Davidson or his work but this is the speech that actually brought tears to my eyes. The idea that his dad was directly impacted by 9/11 and that he called attention to Jon’s advocacy by speaking to Congress really made realize what an amazing impact Jon has made in society on multiple levels.

The death of his father is a significant part of his story and probably one of the things that initially made him stand out, but it's not the primary reason why he's still relevant after years of working. I’m a late comer to the party celebrating Jon Stewart. I never watched him on the Daily Show. It wasn’t until I realized how insightful Jon was to choose Trevor Noah as his successor, that I developed my admiration for him. As a former rescue volunteer, I see Jon Stewart as a man who understands the sacrifice of the 9/11 first responders. We can not forget.
