@@xwhite2020 well said. It shouldn’t be perceived as a failure and certainly shouldn’t ever incite insults like I’ve seen in some comments out there. The only appropriate response is compassion. He’s battling demons others know nothing about. He’s empathic, authentic, intelligent and highly sensitive. Qualities this world needs more of and yet, ironically, those same qualities can make trying to navigate life so very difficult. Hoping he’s with us for years to come, too.

I remember seeing him with Babyshambles in 2008 at the Hultsfred Festival. I went to that specific concert just to see a media hyped crackhead do his thing (or not even show up which seemed to be a reoccuring problem at the time). Not only did he show up early. He jammed a little during the soundcheck and interacted with the few people that had come already. He was sent off stage by management/personnel for the soundcheck to be finished. In no way was he being a problem. He just had to be sent off. No big deal. He then went on with the band. In time. I had heard one song by Pete/Babyshambles before this concert and wasn´t that impressed. Afterwards I went on to get me a copy of Shotters Nation. He nailed that performance. It was amazing. I still have a huge amount of respect for him as an artist.

I'm sorry if this offends anyone or even Peter himself. I used to think this guy was really cool. I met hung out with him many times through mutual acquaintances in the London music scene. I thought he was a real modern day bohemian troubadour AND I was very happy for him and his family (especially his son Astile) when he changed his mentality and got clean in Thailand. He looked great - he gained weight, his skin looked better, he sounded better and heblost his erratic and scatty persona. But like I said I'm sorry but it's just pathetic now. Even the biggest bands like The Stones and Led Zeppelin for example all agree that this lifestyle or chaos, drugs, booze and endless women ONLY goes so far before you grow the fuck up and start to realise what's important in your life such as your kids, your family, your health etc. Many people around me have fallen to heroin and crack cocaine addiction - I've seen it close up. I've lived it alongside others. It's a fucker to beat but it's NOT by any means UNBEATABLE. If you really want to get clean then you will, it's as simple as that. I just don't think Peter really wants that for himself. The drug services in England are predominantly free (most of them are charity organisations). You can even get sent to detox and rehab for free along with free medication to prevent any anxiety, withdrawal and cravings. His lyrics and his writing is phenomenal, he has such talent but he should really be thinking of longevity rather than taking a "quick fix for the here and now". In my honest opinion, he's wasting away. Many of his friends have died as a direct result of this crazy lifestyle (for example - Alan Wass) as well as others who got mixed into it by accident (Robin Whitehead and Marc Blanco). It's just a trail of destruction that has ended badly numerous times but Peter fails to acknowledge this and he just carries on abusing and wasting away day by day. Starting to think this guy is a lost cause. He's gone from looking healthy overall to skinny, pale and sick. I'm not prepared to purchase his music or support him as it just enables him to continue buying and abusing drugs. I have a five year old and I've had to face up to my responsibilities as a father. He should do that too and think about his future. If not, he'll be killed by his addiction.
