Thank God none of this crap ever happened to me. I'm a former 6 time world pinball champion and no one ever asked me if I bet on baseball games.

Pete needs to say I broke the rules and I regret it. Stop calling it a mistake would go a long way.

All he has to do is something he could have done decades ago. Hire an attorney and sue MLB. The problem for him would be, and my guess is someone told him this along the way, if you sue, everything in that investigative file will come out in discovery and people, including himself can be compelled to testify under oath. When I say everything, I mean everything. If he bet on games he was playing in or managing and especially if he threw any games to appease his bookie, that will all come out. I’m not saying he did, but there has to be a reason why after all this time he hasn’t hired an attorney and sued. Meanwhile he just sits back and lets all his fans do his work for him without full knowledge of the facts. Whatever is in that case file must really be bad.

Not a good idea, because he actually tried that in recent years (2022- after the statute of limitations for statutory rape expired), and a lot of his past WAS revealed in legal documents, including the fact that he had an affair with a 15-year old when he was in his thirties. When asked about it, he said "That was 50 years ago". You called it! No more suits from Rose, it's a bad bet !

So he admits to betting, and still gambles to this day making it impossible for MLB to reinstate his eligibility? It’s like you are trying to forgive a drunk driver who hit someone and give him his license back, but then he tells you he still has a few martinis on the weekend.

Why anyone still believes anything Pete Rose says is way beyond being rational. He lies about the agreement he signed with Bart Giamatti and expects people to believe he got hosed by MLB and the Hall of Fame. Joe Buck doesn't even question him and falls for it all. Rose was involved with underworld bookies from coast to coast for decades, but calls it "a mistake", and wants "a second chance". He was involved with steroid users, cocaine dealers, and corked his bats late in his career to set the record. MLB, after all this, still didn't want to permanently ban him, but he denied everything and started suing MLB. Due to his arrogance and dishonesty about years of gambling on baseball as a player and manager, they had no choice. Rose was a great player, and is entertaining, if you suspend belief.

All that he wants to to end his ineligibility for the National Baseball Hall Of Fame so he can profit from it.

@@parkerbohnn You're manufacturing some weird alternate history. And Joe Morgan has said that Pete Rose started running with the worst of crowds. Rose is a crook and deserving more prison time. Not election into the National Baseball Hall Of Fame.

Nobody on the ineligible list can be a candidate for the National Baseball Hall Of Fame. That's their rule. He only wants the distinction so that he can profit from it. But the hall also doesn't want people who harm the game. No amount of games played or hits justifies the way he discredited himself. And the rules regarding betting on baseball were known to everyone in baseball.
@chrisolivo65912 ай бұрын
@@seanwebb605You left out one little side note: Thet changed the rule in 1991 that anyone banned is ineligible for the HOF. Coincidentally Rose was going to be on the ballot in 1992. Even Joe Jackson was on the ballot in 1936 despite being banned from the game. And let’s not get too judgmental when you say the HOF doesn’t people who harm the game of baseball in it. Should Connie Mack still be enshrined when he colluded with 15 owners for 45 years to not allow black players in? Let’s not throw stones.
@seanwebb6052 ай бұрын
@@chrisolivo6591 That's their rule. They get to make their own rules. Rose may have been eligible to be on the ballot in 1992. It was not inevitable. The hall has set criteria and they don't want people who have harmed the game. If you have an issue regarding those who were inducted decades ago and don't pass the same high standard then talk to them. Roberto Alomar was inducted and disgraced himself too. They chose not to remove him. Racism was the norm for a very long time. I'm glad this has changed. With some obvious recent regressions. Pete Rose is a scumbag. He gambled on games while he was a player and manager. He knew that it meant a lifetime ban from the game. The National Baseball Hall Of Fame is not a right. There are no points given for games played, hits, World Series rings etc. The man only wants the ban lifted so that he might be eligible for consideration. That still doesn't mean that voters will select him. He only wants to profit from the distinction. Screw that guy.
