Pete Sears was a member of Jefferson Starship for the entirety of the bands life. In this interview he talks about how he joined the new band Paul and Grace were setting up despite his commitments with Rod Stewart. He talks about some of the songs they wrote, working with Grace and the downfall of that line-up of the band.

An amazing musician and being a massive Jefferson starship fan Pete's basslines and grooves just added that extra muscle to this awesome band

@carolinewoodward1016 The Marty albums Dragonfly - Earth were great. The Mickey albums were just as massive.

If he is the one that played the bass on “With your love” then, he is my favorite

You need to do your biography Pete. Put it down on paper. Would love to hear how you first started playing and how the SF scene came about.

Anything he could tell you about how the Frisco scene came about would be second hand. He was in England. Dude was a good musician, found a commercial outfit he could make big money with and milked it for all it was worth - good for him.

@@jg6698 Actually, Pete responded directly to the same suggestion I made in a reply for a KZbin audio of a session he sat in on with Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir and John Cipollina where Pete played piano. He was intrigued by the idea of doing his autobiography. He also wasn't in England when he was the Starship bassist in studio and on the road. You're overlooking his significant time as a musician in the Bay Area. He played with musicians from The Dead, Quicksilver and The Airplane/Starship. That would make for plenty of historical material.

@@georgestevens1502 you said learning about how the sf scene "came about" from Sears. The scene came about from roughly 62-66 when the young area folkies went electric. It was in full bloom when the national press came up with the "summer of love" nonsense in 67. By the time Sears made his first trip there in 1969 the scene had long since "come about" and had largely crested. He didn't come back to stay till 1974. I'm sure Sears has some great stories but he was on another continent when the SF Scene "came about".

@@jg6698 I didn't say the SF scene came about from Pete. I would just like to hear what he experienced there as an actual player. You're description of the history of that scene is too narrow IMHO. Maybe you were the one who was in England and doesn't know what really went down. Your soapbox is hollow.

@@georgestevens1502 your words were "how the SF scene came about" He was not anywhere near SF when the scene " came about". Do you not understand your own parameters, or are you shifting focus? I could write a page on the development of the "scene" in SF. I thought I would limit it to music for the purposes of our discussion. Carry on. I'm enjoying your evasive squirming.
