As a proud owner of a real Marshall JMP 2203, I can say that this plugin fucking nails the JMP tone, it’s amazing
@CarlyonProduction3 жыл бұрын
do you end up using the plugin more now? I am just looking at buying a new amp...but honestly the tech has changed so much in recent years I am wondering if it is worth it for recording
@CarlyonProduction3 жыл бұрын
@@gtr1983 this is literally always my experience. This is why I am going back to real amps. Some of them are so close now, but the top end never sounds right. I would rather have 2 great tube amps and just use those, rather than dozens of plugins, none of which I am totally happy with. That said, the softube blues breaker was the one that impressed me the most. I also think this - if they were that close, the manufacturers would show a side by side with the real thing,.
@gtr19833 жыл бұрын
@@CarlyonProduction I hear you about going back to real amps, don't have that luxury anymore and with complaining neighbors close by so using plugins is my only option, I find if an Amp Simulation have a harsh top end to begin with then it is usually very difficult to EQ it out or it won't sound as natural, sometimes the harsh top could be from overloading the amp' sim input stage as they all have their sweet spot as some don't have enough head room so they overload easily, I usually go for - 10 dB and then fine tune it from there, the other thing could be the amp cabs they use, I do seem to get good results from Kuassa amps which are really cheap and to my ears sound more organic, bought them years ago and they serve me well , they seem to get the top right and have a nice open sound, their amp sims aren't based on specific amps, I agree they should show a side by side comparison. Also I never use the noise gates built into the amp sims as they tend to cut of the notes, I put a noise gate after the amp sim if I have to use one.
@CarlyonProduction3 жыл бұрын
@@gtr1983 I feel you buddy. I know it is an expensive option, but I just ordered a Suhr reactive load so I can plug straight in and use softies new celestion cab/ir plugin. Im sure I will get some fantastic results this way. But you are on to something with Kuassa - these are absolutely some of the best amp sims out there! Also I would give a nod to softubes blues breaker.....that thing is very impressive. I dont know if it is still on sale, but it was 50 bucks last weekend. The other ones I like are the fender 2 collection from amplitude - if you are into old school tweed sound - these are the best models of those IMO. Amplitube Brian May is also one of the best ac30 out there IMO.
@gtr19833 жыл бұрын
@@CarlyonProduction I have the Softubes Blues Breaker and it is very good, the only thing is that I have to use an EQ to open up the sound more, it's a bit too bottom heavy I find, kind of the opposite from the harsh top end to my ears but may be a different experience for others, I've heard a few really great demos on the Blues Breaker, The other amp simulation software you mentioned are quite good, after years of using all kinds of amp simulations it's kind of like chasing a mirage as sometimes the tones are there and other times it's a struggle as to when I play on my real Marshall there is hardly any tweaking to get my tones.

Storytelling is what came to mind as I enjoyed that very nice opening piece. It's something that I think a bit about as I consider what makes a composition worth listening to over and over again. And, you really do get this quality into everything you play, from the shifts within melodies and leads to the changes between parts. I bet you could give a really great talk on the topic. Thanks again for the both the great music and the tech talk.

Hey man, great video. Let me ask you a silly question. Even using a great guitar (Steve Vai JEM Japanese), great cables (Mogahmi), I can't get this gritty and very well defined sound. For me, here, it just sounds a little dark and muddy and not that professional quality. I've see you are using an UAD interface, in my case, I'm using a Apogee Quartet so, my question is... Do you think this difference may be because of my sound card? Or, do you have any extra tip to share? Thank you for this great material

Hi love your channel ;- great video. I guess amp sims today are so great sounding and hard to tell from tube amps. One question I have which I have heard some people criticize is that when stacking 3 or more guitar tracks with amps sims, it can start getting boomy in the low end etc. Apparently this would not happen with tube amps the experts say? What is your opinion? Cheers ;-)

Thank you Pete/ Great sounds & great playing. The price of the Legends Bundle is 400 bucks.!!! Why wouldn't a person just buy the Marshall Code amp for a lot less money ?
@henrikpetersson34638 жыл бұрын
I agree that the price is kinda ridiculous in comparison to CODE. But we need to keep in mind that these have different applications and most importantly are aimed at different markets. CODE is produced in massive volumes which brings down the price. The plugins are for a niche market with way fewer sales. I bet it wasn't cheap to hire Tony Platt and fly in those vintage amps either.

Great video really interesting. Do you use an Apollo interface in the studio, an 8 or 16? As someone way back on your level of knowledge and just looking to set-up studio-wise could you run through what interfaces you have and how it's plumbed in or point me in the right direction to look at what I'd need if looking to set up an 8, 8p, 16 with a twin or what you use ? Realize this is a big ask and might not be feasible in a vid, if not no worries, thanks for everything you put out on the channel as it's very inspiring.

good on ya... and your relationship with UAD. I'm sure it's quite beneficial for you . you're good at what you do, but I bought over $1000 worth of UAD products with the expectation that this plug was available. I wanted it because I _didn't_ want to spend $1500 on a good hardware version. Now here you are highlighting tones with it.. when it has been discontinued since Sep 2015. I researched the UAD products I bought for well over a year.. but _never_ saw mention that the Roland plugs were discontinued until I actually went to buy one... You and others who showcase UAD's stuff , not to mention UAD itself, _could_ be more scrupulous in disclosing that these things you are saying are so great are really no longer purchasable. So go ahead dismiss me as bitter or whatever, I _did_ my homework on this, and still ended up in the dark... and I'm not the only one.. don't have to look around too much on the net..to find others who felt they got a raw deal from some of UAD's "policies" UAD step up your game..and respect your customers MORE.. if this guy won't say it.. I WILL
