Pete Townshend is one of my favorites from the era, he was very distinctive in his writing and in performance. His "it just has to stop" interview is one of the funniest things that I have ever seen.

I respect and appreciate this man's work. I wonder, to what degree, he obstructed his own ability to create by (1) isolating himself in a small comfort zone of familiar friends and family, and (2) by not seeing more of the world? Then again, let us give this genius a break... he is a very sensitive human being, with a finite ability to deal with stress. Thank you, Mr. Townshend, for all that you have contributed. You have a wonderful imagination!

What's funny is that when you listen to Pete's interviews he contradicts himself and makes stuff up that he cannot remember in the future, but somehow in his art he takes all these different ideas and mashes them all together with this style of the rhymic wall of musical chords and it works … the sums of his ideas is greater than anything he can say logically, and maybe that bothers him or something. Whatever, I'm glad he does whatever it is that he does and he's fun to listen to.

First & foremost Pete is an artist, he used his musical talent as the medium for his “art”. Typical creative, his mind is always in some form of complex turmoil. A beehive of ideas that never stops. A unique, brilliant, guitarist. Fantastic performer in his day too. Those incredible leaps & jumps, white boiler suit & arm flailing. An arrogant bugger, who has said some pretty nasty things about others in his time. Has a brutally, sharp tongue. But, IMO he is a genius & a humble, decent person.

Both Pete Townshend and Jimmy Page are great !!! I do think that Keith may be a bit miffed after all these years that Page was called in by the studio powers that be to do the guitar solo on "I Can See for Miles". I like Pete as a writer but Pagey rules on the guitar.
@lapelcelery427 жыл бұрын
Page didn't play on '...Miles'. He played lead on "Bald Headed Woman", the B side of "Can't Explain", and nothing else. Reportedly this was because he owned the only fuzz pedal in the country, though that may be apocryphal!

Pete Townshend and Jimmy Page are my two favorite musicians and for very different reasons. I spent thousands of hours listening to both and dare I say think I can tell them apart because they are so different. Jimmy was roped in to play on Bald headed Woman, Can't explain and I can see for Miles. It is not him on Miles but on the other two. Listen to the solo in the final version of Can't explain. If that is not Jimmy I will eat my guitar!

I think the reason that Pete dislikes Led Zeppelin is they were always compared with them. Even though they have slightly different styles. Pete was asked to play o2 Arena in 2007, he heard the Led Zeppelin was going to reunite to play that, he dropped out because everybody was going to come and see Zeppelin.
@johnnystek69006 жыл бұрын
difference between between Townshend and Zeppelin, Pete could always admit when he ripped off another artist for a song while Zeppelin lives a lie

There is no competition. The two bands are way too different. Like cats and dogs. And as with cats and dogs, some love one and hate the other. I have a big heart. I love dogs and I love cats. Likewise, I love The Who and Led Zep!!

Led Zeppelin is 3/4 of a great band...plus Robert plant. And they sort of conned the audience into thinking they were really deep thinkers and mystical. Whereas the who were very honest and genuinely had some profound insights.

"I need a new song", sembra dire finalmente Pete parafrasando le parole dell'omonimo brano contenuto in Who Are You.. PETER , QUANDO LO PUBLICHI QUESTO DOCUMENTARIO SUI DANNI ' DELLA PEDOFILIA?
