It’s staggering to actually see the enormous number of different components laid out on the floor before construction of the layout, the work involved to build the layout hump the different parts and get it built, as a man who is slightly older than you lot it’s incredible looking at the team and trying to work out the average age of you guys, l congratulate you all and admire you for doing something you all clearly enjoy, lm green with envy because of your obvious enjoyment and the network of friends you clearly have created

@@LawrenceRobbins Thank you Lawrence for your response, lm 76 and my undercarriage is collapsed, l would be a massive hindrance if l were lucky enough to be involved, so I have accepted that all l can do is enjoy watching you guys and the marvellous work you all do, raising funds for very deserving charities, as an ex Round Tabler and 41cluber l know how difficult it is to raise funds from the public’s wallets, keep up the wonderful work and that fantastic layout, how much larger can it possibly be built ??????

Great insight into the layout being put together up to know we have seen in in parts 😮Everyone seems to know what is required to get it up and running. Fantastic job lads realy enjoying the videos😊

Could someone say what dimensions of each module is. Looks like great system. Maybe Dave could do a video on a build of new one
@johnriley24732 ай бұрын
@eamonnoconnor6664 hi Eamonn. Most Boards we use are 2feetX8Feet although some are slightly different due to their shape or baseboard separation needs. Each backscene is bolted to the back of the baseboard and the whole module then either sits on or straddles a table constructed of two legs and 2 beams. 36 tables were required for our layout at GETS 2024.

@@johnriley2473 Thanks for the response and I see from other questions, Dave could have a video of his own, building a baseboard and stand. Dave does lovely work I must say as you all do of course. I look forward to these videos each week.

@eamonnoconnor6664 thanks Eamonn. It's a great idea and one that I'm sure will be discussed so you may well see something on the subject in the future.

Just wondering how the layout boards are connected to the stands (legs). How are the boards locked to the stands once they are lined up and levelled?
@LawrenceRobbins2 ай бұрын
No. The stands self support and the boards go on top. The boards are pegged and then bolted and the weight holds everything in place

I thought you could drive your vas in to unload like you did at the first show you did thier peter
@garylong75992 ай бұрын
Surprised you don’t use a laser line to get all the boards to line up
@johnriley24732 ай бұрын
We do....at 6:30 in the video you can see myself and Dave using this method. Dave puts his laser and spirit level on the first table. Once this is set the other tables are measured against the datum of the first table. The staffs we use set the distances between tables. Once in position they are levelled to match the previous table.

@@johnriley2473 hadn’t spotted that thanks for the reply I went on Sunday and was very impressed with the layout and all the hard work you had all put in, watching the videos over the last few weeks looked as if you were almost building and painting as it was loaded on the van.

@garylong7599 hi Gary thanks for following the build and coming to see us. Yeah, at times we have to pull a few extra hours out of the bag but it's all a work in progress. We have a level we want to be at before an exhibition and then afterwards continue with each scene. Look out for a third block of flats coming soon!

The long haired one is a genius in DCC, WiFi, 3D printing and laser cutting. He produced the flats houses and platforms, connected the baseboard electrically, got Roco Z21 up and running and got RIDF train describers working
