I couldn't agree more. I found myself cringing - and not because of the dancing, which wasn't too bad - at least better than a 4, I think. Bu the whole 'concept' was tacky and, as you say, objectifying. The trousers just added insult to injury. I second your 'Shame on Strictly' comment, especially given the current cloud over the show.

Motsi's critique summed this performance well and I agree with the divided comments here. Pete's been an absolute sport with the somewhat objectifying themes he's been getting like the 'George of the Jungle' number and now this but the gimmicks needs to stop now and there needs to be a greater effort on this dancing technique to keep his place on the show. Craig gave this a 4 because this is the sort of score he would give to an entry level performance on week 1 and this, in every respect, was a classic week 1 performance. Fluff and distraction everywhere, bent legs throughout, some of the worst New Yorkers seen in the history of the show and one of the slowest, laboured Cha Cha performed on the show. Shirley and Anton got carried away as scores should not have gone above a 7

Oh dear. Pete just looked awkward throughout the dance and the dance never felt like it got started. He made tons of mistakes, there was not enough Cha Cha for this dance and the whole dance was way too reliant on the gimmick which didn’t work because it wasn’t entertaining or funny, it was just awkward-looking. Unfortunately, I think it was a dance disaster. 6

Next is Pete Wicks and Jowita Przystał dancing the Cha Cha Cha. Technically this dance is Sh*t however entertainment wise it's pure Gold and I love how Pete has excepted that he is not the technically best dancer and even tho he trys to improve it is clear he's not going to be the best however I love how instead of making this miserable for Pete he use's this as a positive and just has fun and enjoys his strictly experience, in this dance Pete looked like Ryan goslings ken and instead of trying to look sexy and awaked Pete went down the camp root which was comedy gold, I love Pete and I know it sounds insane but I hope he gets to the final.

The only thing you can really do with this song is camp comedy, and to be fair that's the vibe of the original music video for it too 🤣 I love Pete's attitude, the way he does his best and really puts in the effort to actually learn the technique, but at the same time stays completely realistic and is the first one to give all the others the credit as better dancers. He said after last week's couple's choice that he's now done what he really wanted to do in this show, and from now on he's going to embrace the entertainment side until he's booted out. I'd be happy to see him go all the way to the finals, since they're always the ones I'm most excited to see every week, but I accept it may not happen if he ever ends up in the dance off. But I keep saying that if Strictly was purely about dance skill we wouldn't be allowed to vote at all, they would just go by the judges scores like any real dance competitions. The voting audience is there to make sure the most popular couples stay in, which obviously keeps the viewing numbers high. If anyone is voted to stay in from the bottom of the leaderboard, it means that a big enough part of the audience wants to see more of them, and that's just the way this show works. Sad for those who appreciate pure technical quality, but people are allowed to vote however they want.

I appreciate the technical quality...but I also think it's about the journey. If it was just about the technical then it would be all contestants that come from a dance and performance background. In this show we have people who have danced professionally, been to stage school or danced as serious hobbyists from primary school age, competing against people who rarely dance even at a family party! So, although I enjoy watching people who really are beautiful already trained dancers learn a new genre, my particular joy is watching those that are truly learning from scratch, with no advantages or previous experience at all o help them in any aspect, from technical dancing to character acting and performing in front of live audiences. The show needs a mix of skill levels and I think they do that quite well. I do vote each week on a mix of 'progress candidates' and 'existing excellence in dancing candidates'.

Jowita might need to trust his dancing more. Felt like she went down the anton de beke route of distracting. If pete isnt self conscious or embarssed he would feel more at home which means he would be technically better and more at ease. The way he pointed his feet in the training video and how he gets into his cha cha steps is really good, but putting a beginner into pvc trousers??!! I wouldnt be able to walk correctly never mind dance! I could hear them squeaking from my house!!! Poor bloke didnt even have a chance with the clothes!! But ill grant you hes got good hips and he can laught at himself! Challenge him cause i think that's how he works if you take him seriously.

Pete hardly danced at all. The choreography is letting him down. Play to his strengths instead of wasting time with whatever all the faff is about. Get him really comfortable in basic chacha steps, then add more flamboyance to the routine, not to all the props and people there.

This week no, but last week he was definitely dancing too. I really hope we get to see him do a proper ballroom number with no gimmicks if he survives this week. At least it can't get much worse for him now that he's already done the Cha, Samba, and Salsa, plus the Paso to begin with. Jive is the only latin dance left for him to do at this point. When it comes to bad costume choices though I don't think he's overly worried about it. Just go see him dressed as Glinda the good witch while blowing bubbles and talking with an old lady voice in their podcast for Halloween and you'll see Strictly isn't too far out of his comfort zone 😂

I love Pete but his dance was really below par tonight. He should have been given a serious ballroom number and then he may have got a better score which would have justified his staying in the competition. However, it seems that the costume department are terrified of putting him in smart attire, a decision which will become quite difficult to uphold with all the ballroom numbers coming his way. He's said himself he hates Latin and I wish they would stop giving him jokey numbers like the one tonight. I can't see him doing the Charleston and although he definitely has the looks for the Argentine Tango, I'm not sure he will have the technique to match, but I'm more than happy to be wrong. I think he will be saved from the dance off, as he's very popular, at the expense of either Jamie, JB or Montell, (probably one of the latter two as they have already been in the dance off), who will go up against Wynne, and then Wynne will be gone - done out of one more week. This is why I gave all three of my votes to Wynne again this week. He's a better dancer than Pete, without a doubt. If Pete stays, but is bottom again next week, it really will be time for him to go before much better dancers are sacrificed, as much as I want him to stay in the competition. Fair is fair. However, if the people in charge give him a serious number and he does it well (which I'm sure he could do) then I'll be more than happy for him to stay - he's one of my faves - and I'll be back to voting for him.

Score - *7* That 4 was disgusting! Great fun, but I was a little disappointed that it felt hesitant at the same time, I was waiting for him to rip his shirt off, let his hair out and go crazy. Great hip action and attmept at the basics, some figures looked great, others like the New York were dreadful but fun all the same. I think Jowita made a good routine after they clearly tried to stitch him up this week, I feel like this could have been a 9 watched on 1.5 speed, it just look slow motion alot of the time. It was really entertaining and the basics were good, so I would let him have a place over Wynne if I had to choose
