So the owners would rather it stays in a field and rot than selling it to you? But are happy for you to fix it for free? And store it for them for free? I can see you genuinely care about the history behind the bus which is why you are doing what you are doing but the owners seem to be taking you for a ride which is sad 😔 if they cared at all for the bus they would sell it to you at a heavy discount for the work you have already put into it

The day my parents sold it and the new owners drove it away, I was inconsolable. Apparently it was to make it's way to Portugal, but I have no idea if it did or where it is now. My parents would take it to the odd fair and festival but it was mainly static whilst they built/converted our new home. When ever I step into one of these classic split cab buses, it feels like a home coming to me. ❤️

Oh geez, Pete. Now you've done it. I think you're going to have to unplug Compo's battery and hide him under a good hefty tarp for a week and hope he forgets. In his mind this Herculean effort was all directed by him, and all thanks to him was accomplished. Maybe if you drain his fluids all memory will be lost and when you wake him up, he'll see a "new" bus and just think you're as mad as he already thinks you are. One can hope. Truly an amazing effort and the beginning of a restoration that will definitely be worth watching. I had a bit of personal experience of that kind, many years ago. I bought a 28' (single-deck) school bus from an auction and had it towed. The garage it was towed to had a resident equivalent of Lord Barrington who loved working on International engines. Brilliant work, and inexpensive because I had tripped over a door lintel and gave the auctioneer a strange handshake. Everything went strangely well thereafter. Bizarre, but true.

You left us all in suspense where this bus was going to end up. 😄Nothing but ball breaking videos involving this bus. Pleased it all worked out as you negotiated it to be thus far.

loved watching this as I worked at Aldenham works for four years as a body maker in the high bay, seeing the panels, mouldings etc brought back memories of buses, people and the giant facility that was Aldenham. God, forty five years ago now...

I've driven past this old girl many many times over the years in its rural resting place and often wondered what would become of it after sitting idle for so many years. I'm 'tickled pink' to discover your channel and find something that I've actually seen in the flesh so to speak.

You are my heroes! Maneuvering a double-decker bus in tight spaces and on slopes must be a thing in itself. Glad my hobby is an old Land Rover ☺☺

i just really can not understand why people wont either give away or sell for cheap to people who is willing to restore and care for the vehicle instead of just leaving it out there to rot away. they claim they will do it, they will restore it, but days turn into weeks, weeks into months, then 1-2 decades later, the vehicle remains in the same spot, untouched since the day it was left there years prior, everyone knows the day they get around to work on it wont ever come, yet they refuse to hand it over to someone who everyone knows will actually work on it and care for it. nice to see the bus is finally being taken care of after all the years it has been left to rot. and vandals really piss me off as well, society is way to lenient on them.
