Handy tip, Pete! The accessory you're using is from IK Multimedia. I have an iRig Keys Mini to use with my iPhone. It's an 25 key velocity sensitive MIDI keyboard. It also works with Android and pc or laptop because the package comes with 3 different cables plus free software for Android, iOS and pc! It was only €79 at my local music store.

@@PeteJohnsMusic Of course, Pete, an audio interface is the classic way for an analog sound stereo recording, but what I mean about your video is that on my point of view, you should clarify like saying that as an introduction: "Irig has a cheap recording device intended for guitar; though it is not recommended by the manufacturer, you can make cheap keyboard recording too; however, the device recommended by Irig for keyboard is the Irig Pro Duo, which is stereo".(you could add that you can buy about 15 pcs of the guitar device for the price of an Irig Pro Duo). Hope this help !

is it possible to record the audio of the piano and the visuals of the iphone simply using the camera and video record function on the iphone? So you just record a video as usual on your iphone but the audio is of the piano. This would be awesome as it would mean i wouldn't need to sync audio and visuals using software.
@PeteJohnsMusic5 жыл бұрын
Hey there. So, yes - when you connect an audio interface to your iPhone this becomes the audio input and output of the device, meaning if you then record a video with the camera it should use this audio instead of the built in mic.

Just bought an irig 2 hd with hope of recording my guitar and Microkorg synth, but I see there is also an irig midi 2. If I want to record my synth with the irig hd 2, what would the difference be with the irig midi?
@PeteJohnsMusic6 жыл бұрын
Hey Jeremy. I’m not super familiar with the Microkorg but I’ll try to help out. The iRig 2 HD will work well on guitar and you can also output from the analog line outs from your synth and record that sound. MIDI is sent either via the old 9-pin DIN MIDI connectors (as used by the iRig MIDI) or more commonly these days via USB. The difference is that if you send a MIDI signal, you are only sending the note information and the sounds played will be whatever is on your device end. Recording the analog source means you’ll get the sound of the synth. So my suggestion is to experiment with sending an analog signal from your Korg to the iRig and see how that goes. And I you want to use it as a MIDI controller, consider a Lightning to USB adapter which should help you do this.
