I've owned this monitor for about six months and I can't imagine ever going back to a smaller monitor. I would only consider swapping it out if they made an OLED version. Having such an expansive canvas for all my windows while working is indispensable. It's like tech from the future.

It's also worth noting, if you connect a USB drive to the (SERVICE) port, and then connect the monitor to your PC using the USB B cable, the USB Drive gets connected to your PC. This allows you to just leave that USB connected to the PC, and when you need to flash the monitor, upload the newest firmware, and the monitor will read it. You mentioned a few times in your videos it's a pain to pull the cover and connect the USB drive. This way, you can just leave it plugged in.
@SolaceinScrutiny

Permanently connect a USB extension cable to the USB port at the rear used for firmware updates. That way anytime it requires a update, you just need to plug the USB drive into the extension cable hanging off the your monitor arm.

This monitor is amazing for productivity. I thought the curve was going to be gimmicky, but it makes such a difference. The only issues I've had are related to the KVM switch. I have two computers connected and I will switch between split screen, computer 1 or computer 2. Sometimes when I try switching it drops both inputs and I have shut everything down and restart to get them to connect again. With Zoom, you can create a custom sized window. That way you aren't locked to one app. Share Screen > Advanced Tab > Portion of Screen. Then drag the green box to what ever size you want. It will share anything in that window. It remembers the share size as well.

I bought the 57" Samsung Odyssey G9 about four months ago after doing a LOT of research (which included watching your review several times). At this point, I can't imagine using anything else. Sure, OLED would be nice for gaming, but I don't mind the matte screen at all and you just can't beat this resolution for productivity and everyday use. The single issue I have is that although it sleeps and wakes seamlessly with my gaming PC and work laptop, it doesn't play nice with my older MacBook Pro.

Upgraded to this after my G9 OLED died 2 months ago and man, what a huge improvement. I miss the OLED, but the more aggressive curve and larger real estate were worth the trade-off. That’s good to know. Yeah I didn’t get much help from the vendor either since it could have been a driver clash or anything. Great overview! The perfect ultrawide is probably a hybrid of the G9 57 and the U4025QW. Short term the U4025QW is still better in my opinion because of the 8K resolution limit on M3 Max preventing the G9 from being set to a "usable" scaled resolution. It's Apple's fault, but I dont want to be forced to use PBP, because the whole point is a single large screen. I paired my U4025QW with a ROG XG17 mounted underneath for fast-paced games (also solves the Zoom issue for me). I will probably use the G9 just for sim-racing (and single player immersive games) rather than hybrid productivity with MacOS. If I had to choose one to use with Mac and PC, it's for sure the U4025QW for multi-monitor (TB daisy-chain) and multi-peripheral switching in a single KVM

Very true! And yes you can, it has PIP so you can technically run 2 outputs from your computer and display them as 2 separate screens with a seamless join in the middle, although when I've tried that there's always been a faint but noticeable line down the middle which is awkward when a window crosses both sides. I have my Macbook on a stand next to this screen and also works fine, so that's also an option!

Have you tried with Mac mini m4? I am just about to purchase this monitor as a big sale in Korea. lol I have seen multiple youtube. Not found any review with M4 mac mini that might work fine with this monitor. It's for my work mostly and little gaming. I just need clear text and proper color. Have you tried M4? I know you have ( you have everything. :) ) What's better between G9 57'' and Dell U4025QW? Thank you!

is the monitor stand on your desk attached to the desk? How comes it never wobbles with an arm and a massive monitor?

So does the arm it come with works with the weight of the monitor.

Would the shallower curve of an OLED model be a "no thanks" reason, or is the curvature actually not a problem? I ask, because I love everything about the 49" OLED, but I'm not sure about the 1800r curve instead of a 1000r curve
@PeteMatheson
@PeteMatheson 2 ай бұрын
I personally fine the 1000r curve so much more comfortable. That and the bigger screen / higher resolution still makes me want to use the 57" over the 49" OLED. Still using the 57" right now! Hoping for an OLED version next year 🤞🏼

@@PeteMatheson Thank you so much for your answer, then it is decided, the 57" it is. Are there rumors of an OLED in the works already, that would be worth waiting for?

@PeteMatheson, Could you make a comparison of the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 57", Acer Predator Z57, and Cooler Master GP57ZS monitors? Based on your experience, which is the best 57-inch monitor? Also, could you please test the Ergotron (45-693-216) HX Desk Monitor Arm with VHD Pivot for a 57-inch monitor stand?

does it still not come back on (i.e. the display) when computer comes out of sleep (you mentioned this in your last update as well) ... in my case it does not (most times) when using PC ......but it works ok on my MAC. Its the most dissapointing thing about this monitor and a deal killer !

I just bought the Secretlab desk with the 57” the heavy duty arm for it which cables did you need longer? Mine arrives tomorrow wanted to make sure I had every thing I needed.
@PeteMatheson
@PeteMatheson 4 ай бұрын
Depending on where your machine goes, you'll probably need some 3-5m HDMI/DisplayPort cables, and potentially the USB-A to USB-B cables if you're planning to use the built-in USB Hubs. The length gives you the freedom to run them properly through the cable management on the monitor arm, as well as around the desk (if you want to try your best to get a totally wire-free desk setup)

I just got the Samsung Neo G9 57" myself. I also have the 4090 RTX. Which cable do you recommend I use for the monitor to get to 7680x2160 at 120hz or more? Should I use a quality HDMI cable or a quality displayport cable? I have both, but wanted to know what you think works best?

Hi, thank you again for the honest review. I would like to know: you have the 57" monitor with the Secretlab monitor arm. Are you able to use the Ergotron monitor arm for a 49-inch monitor and mount it on top of your 57" monitor? I would like to put my 49-inch monitor on top of a 57-inch monitor.

Been waiting for the 57" OLED since you first review covering this monitor. Curious though, what are your recommendations for people switching between Mac and PC for work and play? Im looking for something like a KVM that can switch between the two, mic + interface, speakers, webcam, mouse & keyboard at a good refresh rate. Anything you are using you can recommend or maybe recommend a change to my setup?

Simrig - do it! But please go with an 8040 aluminum rig, don’t get a tube version. It’ll be more versatile and you’ll only have to buy once cry once. And get an active pedal for brakes.
