Such a brilliant mind! Incredible depth of understanding complex truths, like the greatest Talmudic Scholars or understanding of Constitutional Law. You present Abelard superbly. Thank you for these lectures!

Very good video, thanks! I did like your exposition, very clear, logic and easy to understand. I haven't read Abelard yet. I just like Scholastic because my readings on Aristotle and Proclus. When I started reading Aquinas it was not easy, but now, I m loving it. I love the rationality and the logical way of think of this period. Now, I would like to suggest you a video about what you said on 18:10 to 18:30. You could explain that topic further for a non-Catholic or non academic audience ;). So, very good show, cheers!

Mx25a absolutely! Medieval approaches to the Bible is a fascinating topic. I plan to make at least a few videos on it. Thanks for the suggestion.

I’d like to read this Dialogue but it doesn’t exist on the Internet… Do you know how I can find it by an other way than buying it? (It’s expensive…)

To be fair, St. Thomas does discuss if Angels can occupy the same space as one another. It's not exactly the same as if they can dance on the head of a pin, but it is trying to grasp at the underlying principle of an angel's relation to space. www.newadvent.org/summa/1052.htm#article3

I'm reading Ecclesiastical History of English People and it makes me smile how they can never forget Eve and her fruit and can never remember all those kings that were converted to Christianity through their wives:) I'm not far in the book. I liked Pope Gregory he was kind towards women in my opinion.

I haven't even finished the book and I already feel like I need to reread it because I've probably missed or misunderstood important things. Right now I think that Abelard was mentioned as an heritic there but I'm not exactly sure:)

Wonderful presentation. Love your simple clarity. One bone to pick with you. I was a little surprised by your condescension toward Medievel enlightenment (views on Eve notwithstanding). Indeed the rise of the modern age was in part a rebellion against medieval rationality. And while the Enlightenment attempted to steady the ship I don't believe they are doing a very good job of it.

Of course, note the capital, that is the modern Enlightenment.

Abelard had some issues with trinity which he saw as being explained in an illogical way. He set about to find a logical way to describe it, and in doing this arrived at a more Sabellian explanation. He was accused of Sabellianism and this is largely what led him to be branded a heretic.
