I saw Peter and Gordon in Troy, New York in 1965 when they were first wave British invasion stars. Peter's flaming red hair was unforgettable. I always wondered about sister Jane's red hair and seeing Peter it was like seeing her. She was the girl the entire world wanted to be, Paul McCartney's girl. What a time it was. They were on the same bill as Manfred Mann (Do Wha Diddy Diddy)................the time was indescribable to anyone not there. No words possible.

At a time when everyone talks about their exes it's refreshing how neither Paul nor Jane ever discuss their relationship, and Peter respects that (and apparently didn't take sides). So John rejects AWWL because the lyric ; 'Please lock me away, and don't allow the day,' are laughable to him; and not very long after that he writes; 'If I could get my way, I'd get myself locked up today but I can't, so I'll cry instead.' And how about the really tough rock lyrics; Don't want to cry when there's people there, I get shy when they start to stare, I' m going to hide myself away....... Yes, I can see how McCartney's lyrics weren't tough enough ¬‿¬

I think Jane got over Paul all right. Usually what happens with young people.
@johngoldsmith97522 жыл бұрын
Jane was only 17 when she started dating Paul. I don't know about you guys, but there is a huge difference between the 17 year old version of me, and the 22 year old version. The further I get from the 22 year old version, I'm different from that, and it's almost like the 17 year old version was a different person, in a different life. I'm sure she looks back at that, and just considers it a learning experience, and she moved on and became an adult, and did well for herself, as did Paul.
@johngoldsmith97522 жыл бұрын
@Kate like I said Kate, people change, and there is a myriad of factors that go into that. For Paul, he became one of the most famous people in the world, so there is definitely a change that occurs when that level of fame is reached. We are only left to speculate how Jane really feels because as you said, it is something she chooses to be private about, and that leaves us to try and read between the lines about what that means. I know her brother remained close with Paul over the years, and can be heard to this day on the Sirius Beatles channel. Whatever went down between Paul and Jane didn't affect that friendship, so hopefully that means Jane is truly happy with her life, and her choices and not scarred by the years with Paul. We'll never really know unless she has a public, candid conversation about it.
