What I like most about this is how back and fourth the conversation is instead of a standard interview. Peter’s is genuinely curious and has immense respect for Dorian, and Dorian has just as much respect for Peter. They are from completely different worlds but mentally on the same page and continue to learn from eachother. Would be great to see him on peters podcast too.

Congratulations for this discussion. Dorian, your way of thinking is that is remarkable, that's the less obvious than the bodybuilder career accomplishments. Not simply knowledgeable, but philosophical. Great inspiration as it is difficult to accept that, as we are aging, we can't sustain the "looks" neither can we train the same way as we did 30 years ago. If Dorian could accept this reality, I ask myself who am I to not accept it. Again, it is all about straightforward clear thinking and being more strong mentally. Embrace the life cycle, that's easier said than done when it applies on oneself.

By far, of the pro bodybuilders, Dorian has consistently demonstrated that he is the most intelligent and thoughtful among them. A few years ago I tried to compile a book, and I ended up recording so many quotes from Dorian. However, I still have many reservations about the one set to failure method, and it is a huge topic to discuss. Just a few considerations: how many people have that intense mindset that will allow them to endure the discomfort while retaining right form? How many people are able to recruit enough motor units in one set, even after years of experience? Neurally, individuals like Yates are by definition outliers. Are geriatrics also supposed to stick to one set to failure?! And in my view, nobody anywhere really does one set to failure. As far as a muscle is concerned, it doesn’t know whether the resistance is coming from a bench press, a machine press, or a dumbbell fly. So my point is, as soon as you are doing multiple exercises for the same muscle, you are already doing multiple sets…in reality, it is NOT one set to failure methodology. Eg. Body does one set on the leg extension only, and then moves onto the hamstrings! Food for thought I hope.

Would like to know how well this type of exercise routine works with naturals. Seems every time I see someone promote low frequency heavy duty, it's either a pro like Dorian Yates or someone I suspect of roiding. I just believe heavy duty and steroids go together, physically and mentally.

Low volume training is actually the best for naturals because steroids pure purpose is to make you recover faster so if you do low volume you will not overtrain like you would in high volume as a natural
@DorianYatesNutrition4 ай бұрын
Heavy-duty, low-frequency training can definitely work for naturals, but it needs careful management. The key is intensity and recovery-without gear, your body needs more time to recover between sessions. For naturals, it's all about finding the right balance, ensuring you're not overtraining, and adjusting volume or frequency if needed. It’s a mentally challenging approach, but with proper nutrition, rest, and smart training, you can see solid gains without steroids.

Please, clarify if it is twice or once a week/muscle group on a 2 day On/2 day Off a week routine is your recommendation. I really would like to see your recommended training split and routine for the All your major muscle groups twice a week in 45 minutes routine. Body Building is awfully harmful to your whole body. Moreover, it absolutely makes no sense as you lose all the oversized muscle when you are off gear.

Bodybuilding can be intense, but when done smartly, it doesn’t have to be harmful. Focus on balanced, natural training-lift with good form, prioritize recovery, and eat well.
