“The competition is NOT on the stage. That’s the end result. The competition is every day DAY IN, DAY OUT that nobody actually sees”. This really resonates with me!! With my wildlife photography it’s similar. It’s the preparation, the miles of walking to the destination where the animals are. The knowing your gear and the concentration needed to create the finished photograph that people love. Thanks, Dorian, great podcast as always. Can’t wait to see Lee Haney on one day!!❤

Blows my mind. I saw Dorian at the Orpheum Vancouver doing a q&a and Oly posing after his ... 3rd O victory? (blown speaker, remember that?) and I follow Derek now as well. Never thought this interview would happen although it makes sense with today's societal progression. I still love Derek's tongue and groove wood panelling. Classic. I'm so old now I remember that the topic of PEDs were still very verboten and even Dorian with his honesty had to tip toe around the topic. Hey Dorian, remember when some dude asked you if you believed Vic Richards ate ~ 15,000 calories/day? You smiled and politely called bullshit. We all laughed.

Dorian has the best gainer on the market. I took 2 1/2 scoops with 1 liter of milk everyday for a year and with hard training the results were clearly visible and felt, actually I decreased my body fat percentage and I gained 7-9 kg of musclemass. The results were almost anabolic.

It's awesome to see Dorian's brand really start to crossover onto the mainstream's radar. One of the most dominant bodybuilders of all time should be a household name like Michael Jordan, Mike Tyson, Derek Jeter. He certainly is held in that regard in this house. There's something about Dorian's storytelling that is so good, what a great interview! I loved that part about the anti-estrogens. I had a similar experience using a 19-nor only base and paid a bit of a price. Bodybuilding has come a long ways but I still love the 90's era, he's right when he describes 90's desire in the gym. BIG was in, but I can appreciate Dorian's different identity. In our eyes he's still in essence BODYBUILDING.

Everyone who is great at what they do has one thing in common. Surprisingly, it is not talent or determination, these are common but not universal. Universally, they have a simple and actionable way of thinking about what they do. This lets them focus on what is important so their effort yeilds results. Dorian is the most concise thinker on body building and his explanations always display deep understand distilled to their essence. He is a great for a reason.

Good conversation - cheers! I must admit that I had different experience with steroids, used Nolvadex but very speringly and couple of shots of HCG after the cycles were enought to restart my natural testosterone production whiteout an issues (never used more than 1000mg test per week tho). This shows how different every individual is regarding the usage of drugs and I think that trial & error is king but it is good to have general knowledge about the subject before you start experimenting on yourself 😅

Lots of matters in like appear straight forward but are infact more complicated than first appearances. So it is with harmones, an ignorant man would surpose "its just a hormone", however having listened to Derek it becomes apparent how complicated the endocrine system is and how upsetting steroids are.

My guess is that if Dorian had continued to train as heavy as possible, using relatively sloppy reps and too much momentum (as he usually did back in his prime), then he would have eventually suffered injuries regardless of any dietary restriction or steroid cycles he used. You can get the same results by using more moderate weights and a slower more controlled rep cadance (with much less chance of injury), as long as you take your sets to failure.

The only thing that annoys me little bit is I hear a lot of the same questions; ‘what you do differently’, ‘who’s better todays guys or the 90’s etc etc. I want to know things like how was the diet, when did he have a relaxing meal (every week or two etc when in the off season) what did he do to kill time back in the day when not training (e.g video games, pick kids up from school , what’s films etc. what did he think of victor Richard’s when he saw him, was he as big as they say, was vi bigger than Dorian, does he think box in shape do well in the mr.o. There’s so much more to know, but it’s about asking the right questions
