I haven't had gear lust for a very long time, but bloody hell I have it now. This is the most amazing guitar effects processor I've heard since hearing an Eventide H3000 for the first time.
@AutschbachPeter16 жыл бұрын
Thanks. For this sound (not a preset) I'm using the power-amp simulation of the Axe-Fx for a bit of distortion. Bridge-and middle PU on the guitar - that's it.

Great demo! The Holdsworth examples were AWESOME!
@hrp6616 жыл бұрын
Great demo Peter! Sounds are top notch but is it really so simple to achieve such great tones with AXE-FX? Do you think a EL34 Power Amplifier will be a good match or a rounder 6L6 type would be better? I have two 4x12 cabs with X pattern Greenback '25 e G12H heritage series. Thanks, Nick
@AutschbachPeter14 жыл бұрын
@wowspare No, there's an amp needed. It can be a power amp or a guitar amp. The unit is not equipped with a power amp.

Oh my goodness. 1:32 Sexiest thing I have pretty much ever heard on clean guitar. Tone and chords combine!
@voodoochild040313 жыл бұрын
Excellent demo! You really showed the huge range of tones this unit can handle. I do have a question though, I see in the vid you are running the Axe-FX into a Marshall power amp and as explained into two 1x12 cabs. Is it also possible to run the Axe-FX with active monitor loudspeakers without an amplifier in between?
@AutschbachPeter15 жыл бұрын
Hi commonlanguage, have you tried the Axe-Fx with a power amp and real guitar speakers and the cab simulation turned off? This makes a huge difference in feel. And it's very rewarding to spend some time optimizing your custom sounds. It might take a while but - as you can hear - it sounds good!

@Siah200014 жыл бұрын
sorry I'm new to the whole rack thingy, but would it be possible to combined this processor, with a normal tube amp? I'm very much happy with the tone I create off my 6506+, but combining it with this thing, so I can have my very own signature sound would be amazing. Would it be possible? or over the top? Thanks man. Excellent video! I'm totally researching this bad boy out right now.
@AutschbachPeter14 жыл бұрын
@bonuzround I think it is, it has better reverb sounds and you can add more effects at a time. But it depends on what you want to do with the unit. The standard amp and cab sounds are exactly the same...
@whoopgnash14 жыл бұрын
best demo out there, nice job man! thanks!!! thinking of getting one...
@AutschbachPeter14 жыл бұрын
@EnveBeats NEVER EVER would I dare to question your BELIEF. This is a demonstration of part of what the unit can do. Personally I experienced that tube amps sound different each and every day you turn the power on. I decided to rather play an amp that I can trust because it reproduces what I want, no matter if the weather changes.
@AutschbachPeter14 жыл бұрын
@seandog1234 No, you don't necessarily need a power amp. Plug the Axe-Fx into your stereo or whatever device, fullrange or not.
@cfmetal13 жыл бұрын
@roadifier Thank you! now, can any poweramp connect to my marshall cabinet? Or must I be specific about that? I'm looking at the Crown XLS1000 DriveCore Series Power Amp. I'm not sure if this will do.

@lazur1 There's no power amp in the unit. So you can plug it into the P.A. or use active speakers or use a power amp and speakers.
@AutschbachPeter13 жыл бұрын
@Snownote I really don't remember. I sold the cabinets because the Axe-Fx speaker sims became better and better. Now I play the Axe-Fx directly into the board or I use 2 AER Acousticubes. Sounds awesome. See my new video "Axe-Fx & MFC101 English Demo 2010 by Peter Autschbach"
@gunshow86de15 жыл бұрын
Your point is well taken. I think most guitarists are quite happy with a nice amp, like a 6505, and a few pedals. I should clarify "boutique." I meant to say things like ENGL, Orange, VHT or Bogner type amps. I guess high-end production amps would have been a better description. You should read over the manual on Fractal Audio's website. This is a good video, but he doesn't even scratch the surface of what you can do with an Axe Fx.
@AutschbachPeter14 жыл бұрын
@Siah2000 yes, it's possible to just use the Axe-Fx as multiple effects device. Check it out...

@jocheluich Cab sim was turned off. A few weeks ago I got a pair of Atomic Reactors. Because they are full range, I turned the cab sims on. Sounds great. I will post another video with that sound.
@AutschbachPeter15 жыл бұрын
You can do that by setting up a delay with your desired time on a second layer and put reverb on it.
@AutschbachPeter13 жыл бұрын
@schecter707 It has to be an active cab because the Axe-Fx doesn't have a built-in Poweramp.

Very good! You have to enable the speaker simulation, choose a cabinet that matches your taste and play directly into the PA. Many players do it like this, I still use the sound of my speakers cause I got used to it.

@cbastriani These are some chords that I use in my song "P's Tune". With open strings. People keep asking, so here's what it is (frets from low to high): 0 11 11 11 12 11, 099 9 10 9, x06600, x04504, 4x4302, 2x4302, 7x7600, 7x7544, 0 11 11 11 12 11. x means muted string. Have fun!
@AutschbachPeter16 жыл бұрын
Hi Nick, yes, it's easy and simple! I just tried a big 6L6 valve power amp and I like my EL 34 better. It's more "in the face". It sounds a little harder than the 6L6 but it fits my playing well. And it's very small and light. But this is just my personal taste, I guess a lot of people (if not most) like the 6L6 better.
@blakedoingthings13 жыл бұрын
I'm curious though, I haven't seen anyone do any patch changes in the middle of playing, is their some type of lag when switching tones? On an amp if you hit the channel switch it immediately will be on the other channel, does the axe fx have any noticeable delay when switching tones like some lesser guitar processing units?
@KKrystof14 жыл бұрын
IS the Ultra controlable via footswitch?....can you switch betweene patches via footswitch?.....Great vid.
@jnh7314 жыл бұрын
If you want to run it through speakers, you'll need either a power amp and a cabinet or a powered PA speaker/monitor. You could also just go direct into the PA or recording console and monitor the sound that way.
@Giogiogio412 жыл бұрын
What people just dont seem to understand is that the Axe Fx while sounds amazing Live, Also pulls it's weight in the studio as well. Thats the difference. it's not just another Amp sim, its a real piece of studio equipment. Sounds amazing directly put into the mix without having to Mic and do everything, And It sounds great mic'ed lol. Whats the differance btween a 2k PC and a 500 dollar one? They both surf the web but it's what you need it for.

Hi Pete... When using the AxeFx with your EVM12L's do you use the cab sims or turned them off? I am debating between a pair of EVM12L or a FR cab
@AutschbachPeter14 жыл бұрын
@UnchainTheNight1 No, you can freely route the signal and leave amps out.
@roadifier13 жыл бұрын
@rickyjshiznit yes, If your amp has a series FX loop, you can run the preamp out into the fx return of the loop. but your amp has to have a series loop for this to work. Don't try to run the preamp into the front of the amp, It wont sound so good, since it is running one preamp into another. Hope this helps :)
@SufferDYT13 жыл бұрын
@roadifier so it wouldnt damage my amp to have nothing plugged into the send of the fx loop but have axe fx going into the return?

I think this is a really cool piece of gear. I can definitely see how this thing would be great in a professional studio. I can't justify the price personally. My rig sounds exactly how I want it to without effects and I use that as the base of my tone so when I do add what few effects I have, it just compliments the already pleasing tone and I do that for a whole lot less than what the axe-fx costs. But, if I wanted to play with a bunch of amps and weird effects all the time, I would get this.

Yeah I understood you when you said boutique and I think that is a very good argument for the Axe-FX. I am actually VERY impressed with the fractal product line and they do reproduce a ton of boutique amps almost perfectly. I guess I am arguing from more of a live rig/touring POV. I am just one of those people who don't think there is such thing as bad tone just the right or wrong tone.

@bonuzround The main advantages of the ULTRA (as far as I'm concerned) are the synth sounds which might be fun to play around with and the on board compressor. For my money, those are the only things I would have liked from the ULTRA so I went with the standard and it's brilliant. There's no way you'd need the added processing speed of the UTRA (which I would assume accounts for most of its higher price tag).
