The first proper Axe FX II clean tone video I've seen so far. All the other videos have tones ruined by ridiculous amounts of chorus, flanger or compression. Appreciate your other videos as well!

Sounds great as usual! Glad to see the Wrecker retained it's dynamics; love that amp on the Ultra.

Pete, you've become one of my all time favorite guitarist. You are truely a players player. I love your style and especially your own material. Your gear reviews (pedals and other FX) are ae great. Keep up the great playing and sharing. You're the BEST!!!

The AxeFX2 is the real deal. Worth every penny for sure. I can't wait till VST software can keep up with the AxeFX.

I'm a huge fan of the Axe II. Best digital effects processor on the planet. But I'm more impressed with Pete's skills! True genuine talent here. One think for everyone to keep in mind is that the guitar and pup selection make a huge difference in tone. When comparing amp tones, I prefer to use the same guitar in same pup position to truly here the differences between amp models. In some cases the change in guitar makes a bigger difference than the change in the amp.

It's encouraging to me to see how far amp modeling has come from the early days. The tones here are great. I have Kemper and get similarly great tones. I'd love to add and AxeFX2 to my collection at some point.
@IAmTheWoodmeister7 жыл бұрын
buddachile Me too. I just got a Kemper for Christmas. It is awesome. But, I want the Axe Fx 2 XL also. Mainly out of curiosity to see if I like one over the other. But I have decided that the Kemper will stay and just save up for the Axe Fx.

@KayleeHasFatThumbs i agree, i'm struggling to hear what everyone is banging on about with the Axe Fx. (not bashing either). Great to hear someone demo the mid gain settings on this thing. From what i've seen the 11R sounds better to me as far as the modelling goes. Although would be nice to see some more mid gain vids of Axe fx

My friend recommended this to me as the be all and end all of guitar amps. It sounds quite like a roland cube amp to me. Good, and convenient, but not GREAT. I won't be throwing my tube amps away after all. Thanks for demo btw.

@cauldronics the Sonys to me are kind of like NS10's are to lots of engineers- maybe not flat but I know them so well that it might be weird to switch. I know how I want stuff to sound on them.

AS usual the Thorn demo clips are the best(beat the Tone Merchant ones)..They shoulda left all the clip duties to you for the new Axe II...and Ola Englund for the metal stuff. BTW Pete..I pre ordered your CD couple of weeks ago any idea how long they take to mail out??

@benbasketballgtar You didn't quite understand my comment. By saving a few hundred, I meant the price difference between the now cheaper Ultra and the brand new Axe Fx II.

Brother Pete thank you for all your great demos..you really gave a good listen to this unit for the first time showing off the modeling without it being drenched in reverb and delay.... Pete have you tested the Kemper profiling amp yet? I would love to get your feedback on that new technology as well. regards Awesome John

@sinasl1 I know what you mean, but to me the Sennheiser's make everything much easier. I used the 7506's for many years before switching. Then again, it took me a long time to adapt to my studio monitors and they're supposed to be relatively flat.

THeirs some that sound amazing BUT they are going into a tube pre and then into a cab Mic'd thats what i'd do theirs one from a dude who sells fridman amps that has this set up wich sounds AMAZING! lush, natural, no ice pick highs lol if you want ill post a link.

Pete, bail on the Sony 7506 phones and get the Sennheiser HD600. Your tones are amazing but they would be even better if dialed in with flat frequency response phones.

NIce tones overall . .but maybe amp modeling is doing for tone what McDonalds Hamburgers have done for nutrition . . made things convenient but not quite so satisfying. . .Great playing dude, nice to hear clean and mid tones . .great licks . .love it . . but the price of these things makes it more for the Brie and Chablis crowd . . less is more . . . I do look forward to seeing what Cliff does for updates, etc . . peace

I think anything of reasonable quality that Pete plays is going to sound great because he is a highly seasoned played with tone in his fingers and great guitars with great pick ups. I really do not see anyone looking for real versatility finding anything better shy of having a collection of Amos and guitars like Bonanadsa or another famous player with unlimited resources. If you just love the sound of a twin or a boogie then buy one but if you require versatility recording and gigging then i simply do not see more cost effective options. The head on a vintage plexi is 3 times the price of this unit. So for $200,000 you are probably better off having 8 killer rigs and 5-10 of your favorite stomp boxes. Another $50,000 for guitars and for $259,000 you can get all the sounds that you would realistically use on the axe fx for $259,900 and still be at only about 5% of the sounds you could get with this unit. Although the vintage gear would souls 15-25% better at those sounds. I think the choice for a working musician who records a lot is easy. If you are a plug in and play Blues guy get a stray, a les Paul and s take along with a vibri-king, a plexi and a matchless and you are still at well over $25,000
