Peter, you make this device appear to be extremely easy to play. I'm burned out on hardware menu diving (Shruthi, Gotharman's Little deFormer, etc.) and am seeking more visceral interfaces for intuitive performance, like touch plates, squishy pads, D beams, knobs, sliders, switches, mod & pitch wheels, joysticks, tap screens, ribbons, modular cable patching, etc. So the Ciat Lonbarde Tocante products are appealing to me more and more, being made of wood and played partly by rubbing surfaces. Their innovative niche electronic devices also deliver more of the 1950s electronic sonic timbres I'm pursuing. "In the beginning, there was mystique..."

found this bit from synth docs - ‘interestingly, the pb that peter uses in this video had actually been sitting on his patio, exposed to the elements for years. so it was acting funky when he demonstrated it. the new pb2s sound better, or, at least, sound closer to peter's intention when he conceived the instrument.... that's my interpretation, anyway.’

Blasser seems to be like really on top of his game, and comes across as man with a unique vision. But the sounds, they are so off the map, at least to me. Especially the PB instrument, I've never heard any music made by it that I like. Would really appreciate some info on where to find examples to the contrary.

I just want to know where one goes to even start to learn how to do this. I'm an electrician so I understand electrical theory and controls but this is a totally different sphere of the electrical world. I don't even know what kind of material and tools I'd need other than soldering irons and the basic circuitry components. Are there any good books or anything that teach this kind of work? It's a passion of mine and I've been having a hard time figuring out where to even start. This guy is a amazing

Can an arbitrary language be assigned to scientific design parameters? How do these contextual, psycho geographical frameworks function within the limited parameters of the actual interface format ( banana plugs, knobs, hand gestures) Should we expect a designer to craft relationships between all these elements and push instrument design forward? Or is this PB's contribution here lateral- sideways.....?

Beautiful thing. Still want one! How easy is it to connect several sections of PB to different modules in a euro modular? Do signals match? Would you use a format converter module or can leads be made up? If so does the PB have to be earthed to the modular somehow or will it work just using the one contact on the banana cables? Never been quite sure about that. Thanks.

I think this is a bit like abstract and representational visual art: there are artists who, for example, create very beautiful landscape paintings which are easily accessible and recognisable and then there are much more 'out there' conceptual artists who have a completely different approach to being creative and representing thoughts and feelings. And there's the whole spectrum in between Each one is equally valid but neither is enjoyed by everyone, so it's a matter of taste and opinion on whether it's a valid way to express oneself. I don't get it all but I do find this guy interesting to watch while he explores and explains all these different processes and intentions. So I am different to you but I can totally see where you're coming from in your point of view, especially around the language used. I disagree that this guy somehow is an offense to hard working conventional musicians. He is inventing and engineering machines more than making music/sound like a musician.

Everybody knows that Peter is a witch and his instruments will speak to your children in their dreams, doing psychoanalysis, helping them with their issues, so finally they renounce their parents and move to the forest near which Peter works to do psychoanalysis with Peter to help him with his issues with building psychoanalytical musical instruments... this evil cycle of help never stops!
