What a dude. R.E.M. were pretty big by 1990, but it's still cool to hear Buck talking about "Losing My Religion" just as a song he liked. Little did he know what was about to happen to the band. It's hard to imagine now that there was a time when there were no guarantees that that song would become their biggest hit to date, one of the biggest rock singles of all time and catapult them to mega-stardom...

seeing interviews with peter buck makes me change my opinion about him. i've always thought of him as being conceited and arrogant, since he gives those vibes so obviously. but he's not as bad as he looks like. he can be affable and nice.

He definitely had his own style then. He used to play very thick strings which are difficult to play

Davy Jones used to be stumped for something to do during guitar or piano solos. Even worse on songs he didn't sing lead on. Just grab a tambourine or some maracas, the teeny boppers won't know the difference. In the later years, he couldn't smile and wink his way around that, so Davy finally learned the guitar, and performed with it, which is cool. Then he died.
