I saw them at the Glasgow School Of Art temporary Students Union building in Renfrew St. around '78/'79, with (possibly) Craig Ferguson on drums and front man Peter Capaldi with a long black coat and a red Gibson SG! I have a distinct memory of Capaldi, in a very darkened venue, hanging on the mic stand with his SG slung round the back, crooning away and then jumping around like a nutter! They had a single out shortly after, as I recall. I remember meeting Peter in the Third Eye Centre cafe in Sauchiehall St, a couple of days after that gig, with my mate Jake Black, (who ended up as The Rev. De Wayne Love in the Alabama 3!) and asking him if I could try out his SG...which he politely declined, explaining that he'd worked in a bar for 6 months to afford to buy it, and wasn't about to let some twat he hardly knew scratch the finish...or words to that effect! And who could blame him!

I can tell by his dramatic punk note intonations, he must have been an angsty artsy teen/young adult in 20s 😂😊 totally adorable.

Listening to this has just catapulted me back to the Doune Castle, a pub in Shawlands, Glasgow, where everybody from Simple Minds to the Berlin Blondes and Positive Noise started out. There was a Greek restaurant upstairs and if the bands were playing too loud the manager, Nico, would hurtle down the stairs and yell “You make-a the peas jump on the plates!” I vaguely knew Peter and was/am delighted by his subsequent success. But he’s better at acting than singing 😅 !

This is the best thing I've read all day. I'm going to be telling everyone I know about "You make-a the peas jump on the plates!" for *weeks*.

I actually like this. It's super weird but if you're like me and you already dig super weird angular post-punk music like Plain Characters, Tactics, or similar... this is super similar. It's strangely catchy and I can def hear The Doctor's voice here, which is neat. :)

Peter actually got better looking with age. Looked a bit strange in vicar of dibbly with his crazy hair. Looked dashing as the 12th Doctor.

Well on tv they give him expensive costumes and makeup and hair before every shot.

Ah man, this is pretty decent post-punk for a student band. Don't be a downer, you're sounding a bit like Neil from the Young Ones!

This song, along with two others, was released The Dreamboys on the record in 1980. All three are available on YT they were digitized by fans at one time
