Really enjoyed this! In Chicago, on WGN, every Christmastime they played, " Frosty the Snowman", a cartoon. This song is very similar in style and vocals. Thanks so much, Moviecraft, Inc!

Growing up in Chicago, this cartoon was very special. Every Easter, my mother would always sing this while baking our Easter ham.😊 Then, on Christmas, we used to watch Suzy Snowflake ❄️

Originally released for television in 1951, and released for home viewing by Castle Films as part of their "Song Cartoonette" series in 1952 (through 1957). Directed by Bob Cannon.

Amazing that UPA would do something like this, since they mostly preferred to have human cartoon stars (like Mr. Magoo and Gerald McBoing Boing), breaking the typical Hollywood cartoon studio trend of the time.

What's even more amazing is that this short was made for castle films At that time Columbia pictures was upa's partner

Actually, this short was one of the few UPA cartoons based on a holiday song, like Frosty The Snowman, so it was something of a one-off in the studio's lineup.

I wonder if Rankin-Bass took inspiration from this for the villain of their special? What I mean is both UPA Peter and January Q. Irontail lost their original tails.

Which do you like better; this, or the 1971 special?

At least the 1971 animation was about Easter! Here, they even changed the song lyrics to make it NOT about Easter. How could that be any fun?
